Acts that benefit one after death.

My father passed away about two weeks ago. I wanted to know when me or my family members go to his grave, is he able to hear us and what we are saying to him?... and if not is their any way we can have him hear what we say?..
Please respond promptly because I really want to now because I think maybe it will help me with the pain I'm dealing with.

Praise be to Allaah.

The principle is that the dead do not hear the words of the living, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "… but you cannot hear those who are in graves." [Faatir 35:22] and

"Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear…" [al-Naml 27:80]

When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) addressed the slain kuffaar (disbelievers) after the Battle of Badr, Allaah caused them to hear his words, although they were at the bottom of the well in which they had been buried. This was a special case, as the scholars, may Allaah have mercy on them, have stated. (See Al-Aayaat al-Bayyinaat fi ‘adam Samaa’ al-Amwaat).

Perhaps the psychological motive for your wishing that you father could hear you is an attempt to do something to re-establish the communication that has been cut, in order to alleviate the pain you are feeling. But you should understand, my sister, that Islam has explained what actions on the part of the living may benefit the dead, and what may reach them in their graves. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: sadaqah jaariyah (ongoing charity, e.g. a waqf or endowment), beneficial knowledge (which he has left behind), or a righteous child who will pray for him." (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, no 1376; he said this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth)

The most important thing that will benefit your father after his death, and that you can do for him now that he is in his grave, is to strive to pray for him and ask for forgiveness and mercy for him, and for Paradise and salvation from the Fire, and other good and beautiful du’aa’s (prayers).

Prayers for forgiveness offered by both sons and daughters of the deceased bring great benefits, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "A man’s status will be raised in Paradise and he will ask, ‘How did I get here?’ He will be told, ‘By your son’s du’aa’s (prayers) for forgiveness for you." (Reported by Ibn Maajah, no 3660; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1617)

Another thing that may reach the deceased is sadaqah (charity) given on his behalf, because ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) reported that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): "My mother has passed away, and if she could have spoken, she would have given something in charity. Will she receive a reward if I give something on her behalf?" He said, "Yes." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fath, 1388)

Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the mother of Sa’d ibn ‘Ubaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) died when he was away from her. He said: "O Messenger of Allaah, my mother has died and I am away from her. Will it benefit her anything if I give in charity on her behalf?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Then I ask you to be my witness that I am giving my garden al-Mikhraaf (so called because it bore so many dates) in charity on her behalf." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fath, 2756)

Abu Hurayrah reported that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): "My father has died and left money behind. He did not make a wasiyyah (a will); will it expiate for his sins if I give some of it in charity on his behalf?" He said, "Yes." (Reported by al-Nisaa’i)

Sa’d ibn ‘Ubaadah said: "I said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah, my mother has died. Should I give charity on her behalf?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ I asked, ‘What kind of charity is best?’ He said, ‘Providing water.’" (Reported by al-Nisaa’i)

Other deeds that may also benefit the deceased are Hajj and ‘Umrah on their behalf, after the living person has first performed Hajj and ‘Umrah on his or her own behalf.

‘Abdullaah ibn Buraydah reported that his father (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: "While I was sitting with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), a woman came to him and said: ‘I gave my mother a slave-woman in charity, and now my mother has died.’ He said: ‘You have got your reward, and your right of inheritance has brought your gift back to you.’ She said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, she still had one month to fast – can I fast it on her behalf?’ He said, ‘Fast it on her behalf.’ She said, ‘She never went to Hajj – can I perform Hajj on her behalf?’ He said, ‘Perform Hajj on her behalf.’" (Reported by Muslim, may Allaah have mercy on him, in his Saheeh, no. 1149)

This shows that it is also permissible to fast on behalf of the deceased.

Another thing that may benefit the deceased is to fulfil their nadhr (vow), because Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: "My mother made a vow to perform Hajj but she died before she could do it. Can I perform Hajj on her behalf?" He said, "Yes, perform Hajj on her behalf. Don’t you think that if your mother owed a debt you would pay it off?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Then pay off what is owed to Allaah, for Allaah is more deserving of having vows fulfilled." (al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 7315)

Another thing that may benefit the deceased is if his relative devotes a share to him of a sacrifice he offers. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) offered a sacrifice, he said: "In the name of Allaah, O Allaah, on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad" (reported by Muslim, no. 1967) – and the family of Muhammad included both the living and the dead.

You should also know that keeping yourself busy with praying for your father is more important and better for you, and more beneficial to the deceased, than thinking about whether he can hear your voice. So try to do whatever will be of benefit both to him and you. You and your family should avoid forbidden innovations (bid’ah) such as marking the fortieth day after death, or the passing of one year since the death, or gatherings for reciting al-Faatihah (the first chapter or soorah of the Qur’aan), doing forbidden acts at graves, and so on, deeds which are done by those who are ignorant and are imitated by others.

I ask Allaah to forgive your father and have mercy on him and on all the deceased Muslims, for He is the Forgiving, Most Merciful.

ஹிஜ்ரி ஆண்டின் மூன்றாம் மாதமான ரபீவுல் அவ்வல் ஓர் ரம்மியமான மாதமாகும்.

ரபீவுல் அவ்வல் என்றால் முதல் வசந்தம் என்று பொருள். இது வசந்தகாலத்தின் துவக்கமாக இருப்பதால் இப்பெயர் வந்திருக்கலாம்.

ரபீவுல் அவ்வல் மாதம் வந்தாலே முஸ்லிம்களில் சிலருக்கு பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சியும் சந்தோசமும் வந்துவிடும். காரணம் இது நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் பிறந்த மாதம். ஆகவே இந்த மாதத்தை கொண்டாடும் மாதமாக எடுத்துக் கொள்வது நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிக்கும் அடையாளமாகும் என்று தவறாக எண்ணி மீலாது விழா, மௌலிது ஷரீபு(?) என வெகு கோலாகலமாக பல முஸ்லிம்களின் வீடுகளிலும் பள்ளிகளிலும் நடைபெறுவது வாடிக்கை.

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிப்பது இஸ்லாத்தின் அடிப்படையாகும்.

யார் தன் பிள்ளை பெற்றோர் மற்றும் எல்லா மனிதர்களை விடவும் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிக்கவில்லையோ அவர் உண்மையான முஃமினாக முடியாது.

(நபியே!) நீர் கூறும்; உங்களுடைய தந்தைமார்களும், உங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளும், உங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களும், உங்களுடைய மனைவிமார்களும், உங்களுடைய குடும்பத்தார்களும், நீங்கள் திரட்டிய செல்வங்களும், நஷ்டம் (எங்கே) ஏற்பட்டு விடுமோ என்று நீங்கள் அஞ்சுகின்ற (உங்கள்) வியாபாரமும், நீங்கள் விருப்பத்துடன் வசிக்கும் வீடுகளும், அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவன் தூதரையும், அவனுடைய வழியில் அறப்போர் புரிவதையும் விட உங்களுக்கு பிரியமானவையாக இருக்குமானால், அல்லாஹ் அவனுடைய கட்டளையை (வேதனையை)க் கொண்டு வருவதை எதிர்பார்த்து இருங்கள் -

அல்லாஹ் பாவிகளை நேர்வழியில் செலுத்துவதில்லை. (அல்குர்ஆன் 9:24)

என் உயிர் எவன் கைவசம் இருக்கின்றதோ அவன் மீது ஆணையாக தன் பெற்றோர் இன்னும் பிள்ளைகளைவிடவும் நான் நேசமுள்ளவராக ஆகும் வரை உங்களில் எவரும் உண்மையான முஃமினாக முடியாது என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். நூல் : புகாரி

(ஒருநாள்) நாங்கள் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களுடன் இருந்தோம். அப்போது நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் உமர்(ரலி) அவர்களின் கையை பிடித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதரே! என்னைத் தவிர மற்ற எல்லா உயிரினங்களையும் விட உங்களை நான் மிகவும் நேசிக்கின்றேன் என உமர்(ரலி) அவர்கள் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களிடம் கூறினார்கள். அதற்கு நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் என் உயிர் எவன் கைவசம் இருக்கின்றதோ அவன் மீது ஆணையாக உன்னை விட நான் மிக நேசமுள்ளவராக ஆகும் வரை நீர் உண்மையான முஃமினாக முடியாது என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். அதற்கு உமர்(ரலி) அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது ஆணையாக இப்போது நீங்கள் என் உயிரை விடவும் என்னிடத்தில் மிக நேசமானவர்கள் எனக் கூறினார்கள். அதற்கு நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் இப்போதுதான் நீங்கள் உண்மையான முஃமீன் எனக்கூறினார்கள். நூல் : புகாரி

இவ்வாறு ஒவ்வொரு முஸ்லிமும் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை உண்மையான முறையில் நேசிப்பது கட்டாயமாகும்.

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிப்பது எப்படி?

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிப்பதென்பது அல்லாஹ்வும் இன்னும் அவனின் தூதர் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களும் ஏவியவைகளை எடுத்து நடந்தும் தடுத்தவைகளை தடுத்தும் நடப்பதுதான் உண்மையான நேசமாகும். இப்படித்தான் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிக்க வேண்டும்.

(நபியே!) நீர் கூறும், ”நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை நேசிப்பீர்களானால், என்னைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள். அல்லாஹ் உங்களை நேசிப்பான். உங்கள் பாவங்களை உங்களுக்காக மன்னிப்பான். மேலும், அல்லாஹ் மன்னிப்பவனாகவும், மிக்க கருணை உடையவனாகவும் இருக்கின்றான். (அல்குர்ஆன் 3:31)

நபித்தோழர்கள் நபியவர்களை எப்படி நேசித்தார்கள்?

கண்ணியத்திற்குரிய நபித்தோழர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர்(ஸல்) அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையை அடிதவறாமல் பின்பற்றினார்கள் என்று சொல்வதைவிட நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களின் ஒவ்வொரு அசைவுகளையும் பின்பற்றினார்கள் என்பதுதான் பொருத்தமாகும்.

1. நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர்(ஸல்) அவர்களை எப்படி நேசிக்கக்கூடியவர்களாக இருந்தீர்கள்? என அலீ(ரலி) அவர்களிடம் கேட்கப்பட்ட போது, அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது ஆணையாக நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் எங்களின் பொருட்கள், பிள்ளைகள், தந்தை, தாய்மார்கள் மற்றும் தாகத்தின் போது குளிர் தண்ணீரை விடவும் எங்களிடம் மிகவும் நேசமுள்ளவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள் என விடை பகர்ந்தார்கள்.

2. நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுவிட்டார்கள் என்ற வதந்தி உஹது யுத்தத்தில் பரவிய போது நபித்தோழர்கள் திகைத்துப் போனார்கள். அப்போது ஒரு நபித்தோழி திகைத்துப் போன நிலையில் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களின் நிலையை அறிந்து கொள்வதற்காக உஹதுப் போர்களத்திற்கு வந்தபோது தன்னுடைய மகன், தந்தை, கணவன் இன்னும் சகோதரர் ஷஹீதாக்கப்பட்ட செய்தியைக் கேள்விப்படுகின்றார்கள். அவர்களில் யாரை முதலில்பார்த்தார்கள் என்பது எனக்குத் தெரியாது அந்த நபித்தோழி ஷஹீதாக்கப்பட்டவர்களை கடந்து செல்லும் போதெல்லாம் இவர் யார் என வினவிய போது இது உமது தந்தை, உமது சகோதரர், உமது கணவர், உமது மகன் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டது. அப்படி சொல்லப்படும் போதெல்லாம் அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர்(ஸல்) அவர்கள் எங்கே? என்றுதான் கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கொஞ்சம் முன்னால் நிற்கின்றார்கள் என நபித் தோழர்கள் கூறினார்கள். நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களைப் பார்த்த அவர்கள் அன்னாரின் ஆடையின் ஓரத்தைப் பிடித்தவாறு, கூறினார்கள். அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதரே! என் தாயும், தந்தையும் அர்ப்பணமாகட்டும், நீங்கள் நலமடைந்து விட்டால் நான் எந்த அழிவைப்பற்றியும் கவலைப்படமாட்டேன் எனக்கூறினார்கள்.

நபித்தோழர்களும் நபித்தோழிகளும் உண்மையாகவே நபியவர்களை நேசித்தார்கள் என்பதற்கு இது போன்ற எத்தனையோ வரலாற்றுக் குறிப்புகளை கூறலாம்.

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் ஏவியதையும் தடுத்ததையும் நபித்தோழர்கள் எடுத்தும் தடுத்தும் நடந்தார்கள் என்பது மட்டுமல்லாமல், நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களுக்காக தன் உயிரையே அர்ப்பணித்தார்கள். நபியவர்களின் விருப்பத்தை தன் விருப்பமாக்கினார்கள். இப்படித் தான் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசிக்க வேண்டும்.

இவை அனைத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டு, ரபீவுல் அவ்வல் மாதத்தில் நபியவர்கள் பேரில் மௌலிது படித்துவிட்டு அல்லது மீலாது விழா நடத்திவிட்டு நாம் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களை புகழ்ந்து விட்டோம் என்பது போலி நேசமாகும்.

நபியை நேசிப்பதன் அளவுகோல்:

நபியை ஒருவர் நேசிப்பதற்கான அளவு கோலாக அவர்களின் வழி நடப்பதையே அல்குர்ஆனும் நபிகள் நாயகம் (ஸல்) அவர்களின் பொன் மொழிகளும் எடுத்துக்கூறுகின்றன.

“நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை நேசிப்போராக இருந்தால் என்னைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள் என (முஹம்மதே) கூறுவீராக! (அத்:3.வச:31). என அல்லாஹ் குறிப்பிடுகின்றான்.

நான் உங்களுக்கு விட்டுச் செல்லும் வழியைப்பற்றி நில்லுங்கள். உங்களுக்கு முன்வாழ்ந்தோர் (பயனற்ற) கேள்விகளாலும், தமது நபிமார்கள் மீது முரண்பட்டுக் கொண்டதாலுமே அழிந்தனர். நான் ஏதாவது ஒரு விஷயத்தை தடுத்தால் அதனை முழுமையாக தடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். ஏதாவது ஒரு கட்டளை பிறப்பித்தால் அதிலிருந்து முடியுமான அளவு எடுத்து நடவுங்கள் எனக் கூறினார்கள்.

நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் தனது பிறந்த தினத்தில் எவ்வாறு நடந்து கொண்டார்கள்?

நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் பிரதி திங்கள் தோறும் நோன்பு நோற்கும் வழக்குமுடையோராக இருந்தார்கள் அது பற்றி நபித்தோழர்கள் வினவிய போது:

அந்நாளில் நான் பிறந்தேன், அதில்தான் என் மீது (அல்குர்ஆன்) இறக்கப்பட்டது என பதில் கூறினார்கள். (முஸ்லிம்) . முஸ்லிமின் மற்றொரு அறிவிப்பில் “அந்நாளில் நான் நபியாக அனுப்பப்பட்டேன் எனக் கூறியதாகவும், திர்மிதீயில் இடம் பெறும் அறிவிப்பில் “பிரதி வியாழன், திங்கட் கிழமைகளில் அடியார்களின் அமல்கள் அல்லாஹ்விடம் எடுத்துக்காட்டப்படுகின்றன. எனது அமல்கள் நான் நோன்பு நோற்றிருக்கும் நிலையில் அவனிடம் எடுத்துக்காட்டப்பட விரும்புகின்றேன் என மற்றொரு காரணம் கூறியதாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் தனது பிறந்ததினத்தில் எவ்வாறு நடந்து கொண்டார்கள் என்பதை அவர்களின் பிறந்த தினத்தை கொண்டாடுவோர் சிந்திக்கக் கடமைப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

திங்கட்கிழமை அமல்கள் அல்லாஹ்விடம் எடுத்துக்காட்டப்படுகின்ற காரணத்தாலும், மேலும் அத்தினத்தில் நபிகள் நாயகம் (ஸல்) அவர்கள் நோன்பு நோற்றுள்ளதாலும் நபியைப் போன்று நோன்பு நோற்பது அவர்களை நேசிப்பதற்கான அடையாளமாகும். அவர்கள் தனது பிறந்த நாளைக் கொண்டாடவில்லை என்பதற்கு இந்த ஹதீஸை விட ஆணித்தரமான வேறு சான்று வேண்டியதில்லை. மீலாத் தினத்தை கொண்டாடும் சகோதரர்கள் சிந்திப்பார்களா?

நபித்தோழர்களும் மீலாத் விழாவும்:

இரண்டாம் கலீஃபா உமர் (ரலி) அவர்களின் காலத்தில் இஸ்லாமிய ஆண்டை நபியின் பிறந்த நாளில் இருந்து கணிக்காமல் அவர்களின் “ஹிஜ்ரத்” பயணத்தை கவனத்தில் கொண்டு ஹிஜ்ரி ஆண்டை நிர்ணயம் செய்த நிகழ்வும், நபித்தோழர்களின் காலத்தில் மீலாத் தின கொண்டாட்டங்கள் இடம் பெறாததும், அவர்கள் மத்தியில் மீலாத் தினம் முக்கிய இடத்தைப் பெறவில்லை என்பதை உணர்த்தப் போதுமான சான்றாகும்.

ஃபாத்திமிய்யாக்கள் என்ற ஷியாப்பிரிவினரே மௌலிதுகளை உருவாக்கினர்:

மீலாத் தின கொண்டாட்டங்கள் நபிகள் நாயகம் (ஸல்) அவர்களின் காலம் முதல் ஹிஜ்ரி நான்காம் நூற்றாண்டு வரை இஸ்லாமிய மார்க்கத்தில் இருந்திருக்கவில்லை. ஃபாத்திமிய்யாக்கள் (ஃபாத்திமா (ரழி) அவர்களின் பரம்பரையில் வந்தவர்கள்.) என தமக்கு பொய் நாமம் சூட்டிக் கொண்ட “பனுஉபைத்” கூட்டத்தினர் பக்தாதிலுள்ள அப்பாஸியர் ஆட்சியை எதிர்த்து எகிப்தில் கிளர்ச்சி செய்து, அங்கு ஆட்சியைக் கைப்பற்றினர்.

தமது நிர்வாகத்தில் மக்களுக்கு ஏற்படும் அதிருப்தியை சமாளிப்பதற்காகவும், தமதாட்சியை தக்கவைத்துக் கொள்ளவும், மக்கள் தமக்கெதிராக புரட்சியில் ஈடுபடாமலிருக்கவும், மக்களின் கவனத்தை தம்பக்கம் ஈர்ப்பதற்காகவும் “மவ்லிதுன் நபி” “மவ்லிது அலி” “மவ்லிது ஹஸன்” “மவ்லிது ஹுஸைன்” “மவ்லிது ஃபாத்திமா” “மவ்லிது கலீபதில் ஹாழிர்” (ஷீஆக்களின் நம்பிக்கைப்படி ஹிஜ்ரி 230 ற்குப் பின் பிறந்து 1200 ற்கும் மேற்பட்ட வருடங்கள் உயிர் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் மஹ்தி) என ஆறு மவ்லித்கள் சுன்னத் வல் ஜமாஅத் முஸ்லிம்களை அக்காலத்தில் கருவறுத்த “அல்முயிஸ் லிதீனில்லா ஹில் உபைதி” என்றழைக்கப்படும் ஆட்சியாளனால் ஹிஜ்ரி 362-ம் ஆண்டு தோற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இவனைத் தொடர்ந்து “அல்முயிஸ்” என அழைக்கப்படும் இவனது மகன் அதனைப் பேணி வந்தான். இவனது ஆதரவாளர்கள் இவனை பிற்காலத்தில் வெளிவரவிருந்த மஹ்தி என்றும் கூறிவந்தனர். இவர்களுக்குப் பின் ஆட்சியில் அமர்ந்த “சுன்னத் வல்ஜமாஅத்” ஆதாரவாளரான “அல் அஃப்ழல் அமீருல்ஜுயூஷ் பின் பத்ர் அல்ஜமாலி” என்பவரால் நடை முறையில் இருந்து வந்த மவ்லித் ஹிஜ்ரி 448 ல் ஒழிக்கப்பட்டது.

பின்னர், “ஷியா” ஆதரவாளரான “அல்ஆமிர் பிஅஹ்காமில்லாஹ்” என்பவரால் ஹிஜ்ரி 524 ம் ஆண்டு மீண்டும் புத்துயிரூட்டப்பட்டது. (இதுவே மவ்லிதின் சுருக்கமான வராலாறு).

மீலாது விழா ஆரம்பமானது எப்போது?

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களோ, நாற்பெரும் கலீஃபாக் களோ, மற்ற நபித்தோழர்களோ, அவர்களுக்குப்பின் தோன்றிய தாபியீன்களோ, அல்லது நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களால் போற்றப்பட்ட முந்தைய மூன்று நூற்றாண்டுகளில் வாழ்ந்தவர்களோ மீலாது விழா கொண்டாடவில்லை. அப்படியானால் மீலாது விழா ஆரம்பமானது எப்போது? திருக்குர்ஆன் விரிவுரையாளர்களில் ஒருவரான இமாம் இப்னு கஸீர்(ரஹ்) அவர்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள்:

ஹிஜ்ரீ 357 முதல் 567 வரை மிஸ்ரை (எகிப்து) ஆண்டு வந்த ஃபாத்திமியீன்களின் ஆட்சியில் அப்துல்லாஹ் பின் மைமூன் அல் கதாஹ் என்ற யூதனால் இஸ்லாத்தின் பெயரால் பல விழாக்கள் அரங்கேற்றப்பட்டன. அதில் நபி (ஸல்) அவர்களின் பிறந்த நாள் விழாவும் ஒன்று.

ஆக இவ்விழா ஹிஜ்ரீ நான்காம் நூற்றாண்டில் யூதர்களால் அரங்கேற்றப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மீலாது விழாவும் கிறிஸ்துமஸும்

ஈஸா(அலை) அவர்களுக்கு கிருத்துவர்கள் பிறந்தநாள் விழாக் கொண்டாடுவது போன்று முஸ்லிம்கள் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களுக்கு விழாக் கொண்டாடுகின்றனர். ஆனால் இந்த ஒப்பீடு சரிதானா?

பிறசமயக் கலாச்சாரத்தைப் பின்பற்றுபவன் அந்த சமயத்தையே சார்ந்தவன் என நபி(ஸல்)அவர்கள் கூறியுள்ளார்கள்.

கிருத்துவர்கள் பிறந்த நாளை விழா நாளாக கருதுவது போன்று நாமும் கருதினால் இவ்விஷயத்தில் நாம் கிருத்துவ மதத்தை சார்ந்துள்ளோம் என்றே இந்த நபிமொழி கூறுகிறது. எனவே நபிகளாரின் எச்சரிக்கைக்குப் பயந்து பிறந்த நாள் விழா மற்றும் இதுபோன்ற பிறமதக் கலாச்சாரங்களை விட்டும் முற்றிலும் விலகி, முழுமையான இஸ்லாமியராக வாழ முயற்சிக்க வேண்டும்.

பிறந்த நாள் விழாவா? இறந்த நாள் விழாவா?

இதில் கவனிக்க வேண்டிய மற்றொரு முக்கிய விஷயம் என்னவெனில் எந்த நாளில் நபி(ஸல்)அவர்கள் பிறந்தார்கள் என்று கூறுகின்றார்களோ அதே நாளில்தான் நபி(ஸல்)அவர்கள் இறந்தும் உள்ளார்கள். இவ்வாறிருக்க இவர்களின் விழாக்களும் வழிபாடுகளும் நபி(ஸல்)அவர்களின் பிறப்பிற்காகவா? அல்லது இறப்பிற்காகவா?

ஆண்டுக்கொரு முறை மட்டும் நேசிப்பதா?

ஆண்டுக்கொருமுறை தாம் விரும்பும் அரசியல் தலைவர்களையும் பேச்சாளர்களையும் அழைத்து கூட்டம் கூட்டி, விழா நடத்தி, போட்டிகள் வைத்து, பரிசளித்து கலைவது என்பது மட்டும் நபியை மதிப்பதாகாது. வருடத்தில் இது போன்ற ஓரிரு விழாக்களை கொண்டாடிவிட்டு, அதன் பிறகு நாம் நினைத்தது போன்று வாழ்ந்து கொள்வது நபி(ஸல்)அவர்களை நேசிப்பதாகாது. நம் வாழ்வின் அனைத்துத்துறைகளையும் அனைத்துச் செயல்களையும் அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர்(ஸல்)அவர்களின் வழிகாட்டுதலின் அடிப்படையில் அமைத்துக் கொள்ளவேண்டும். அவர்களை முழுமையாக பின்பற்றவேண்டும்.

நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை நேசிக்கக் கூடியவர்களாக இருந்தால் என்னைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள்! அப்போது தான் அல்லாஹ் உங்களை நேசிப்பான் என்று நபியே நீர் கூறுவீராக!

(அல்குர்ஆன் 3:31)

உங்களில் ஒவ்வொருவரும் சொர்க்கத்தில் நுழைந்து விடுவீர்கள் மறுப்பவரைத் தவிர என்று நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். அப்போது அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர்(ஸல்) அவர்களே! மறுப்பவர் என்றால் யார்? என்று தோழர்கள் கேட்டனர். என்னைப் பின்பற்றுபவர் சொர்க்கத்தில் நுழைந்து விடுவார். எனக்கு மாறுசெய்பவர் நிச்சயமாக என்னை மறுத்தவராவார் – அவர் சொர்க்கத்தில் நுழையமாட்டார்- என்று நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் பதிலளித்தார்கள். அன்பான அழைப்பு:

மவ்லிதை ஓதி, மீலாத் விழா நடத்தும் சகோதரர்களே! முதலாவதாக உங்கள் நடைமுறையால் நபி (ஸல்) அவர்களை நேசியுங்கள். எப்படித் தொழுதார்கள்? எவ்வாறு திருமணம் செய்தார்கள்? அல்லது எப்படி திருமணம் செய்யச் சொன்னார்கள்? எவ்வாறு ஆடை அணியச் சொன்னார்கள்? எவ்வாறு இல்லற வாழ்வில் ஈடுபடும்படி கூறினார்கள்.? குழந்தைகளை எவ்வாறு வளர்த்தார்கள்? அண்டை அயலவர்கள், ஏழைகள் விருந்தினர்கள், எதிரிகள், குழந்தைகள், மனைவியர் ஆகியோருடன் எவ்வாறு நடந்து கொண்டார்கள்? தாடி எவ்வாறு வளர்த்தார்கள்? மீசை எவ்வாறு வைத்திருந்தார்கள்? எவ்வாறு உறங்கினார்கள்? உணவருந்தினார்கள்? நீர் பருகினார்கள்? காலை, மாலையில் என்ன திக்ர்” பிரார்த்தனை ஓதினார்கள். என்பன போன்ற நூற்றுக்கணக்கான நபியின் உன்னத நடைமுறையை உங்கள் அன்றாட வாழ்வில் கடைப்பிடியுங்கள். அப்படி செய்தால், உங்கள் வாழ்வில் நடக்கும் பெரிய மீலாத் விழா வேறொன்றுமில்லை. ஆகவே ரம்மியான ரபீவுல் அவ்வல் மாதத்தை நன்மைகளை விளைவிக்கும் வசந்த காலமாக மாற்றிட முயல்வோம்.

Conditions of du’aa’ being accepted by Allaah

What are the conditions of du’aa’ so that the du’aa’ will be answered and accepted by Allaah?.

Praise be to Allaah.

There are many conditions of du’aa’, including the following:

1 – You should call upon no one except Allaah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If you ask, then ask of Allaah, and if you seek help, then seek the help of Allaah.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2516; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’.

This is what is meant by the verse (interpretation of the meaning):
“And the mosques are for Allaah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allaah”
[al-Jinn 72:18]

This is the most important condition of du’aa’, without which no du’aa’ will be accepted and no good deed taken up. There are some people who make du’aa’ to the dead and regard them as intermediaries between them and Allaah. They claim that these righteous people will bring them closer to Allaah and intercede for them with Him, and they claim that their sins are so great that they have no status before Allaah, and that is why they set up these intermediaries and pray to them instead of Allaah. But Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor)”
[al-Baqarah 2:186]

2 – You should seek to draw close to Allaah in one of the ways that are prescribed in sharee’ah.

3 – You should avoid seeking a quick response, for this is one of the problems that may prevent the du’aa’ from being accepted. In the hadeeth it says: “One of you may be answered so long as he is not hasty and says, ‘I said du’aa’ but I got no response.’” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6340; Muslim, 2735.

In Saheeh Muslim (2736) it says: “A man’s (du’aa’s) may be answered so long as it does not involve sin or severing the ties of kinship or hastening.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allaah, what does hastening mean?” He said: “When he says, ‘I made du’aa’ and I made du’aa’ but I did not see any response,’ so he gets discouraged and stops making du’aa’.”

4 – The du’aa’ should not involve sin or severing of the ties of kinship, as stated in the hadeeth quoted above: “A man’s (du’aa’s) may be answered so long as he does not involve sin or severing the ties of kinship …”

5 – You should think positively of Allaah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah, may He be exalted, says: ‘I am as My slave thinks I am.’” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 7405; Muslim, 4675. According to the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah: “Make du’aa’ to Allaah when you are certain of a response.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 245.
Whoever thinks well of his Lord, Allaah will bestow His bounty upon him and give him in abundance.

6 – You should be focused, aware of the greatness of the One upon Whom you are calling. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Know that Allaah does not answer a du’aa from a distracted heart.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3479; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 245.

7 – Ensuring that one’s food comes from good (halaal) sources. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, Allaah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)”
[al-Maa’idah 5:27]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated that a response was unlikely for one who eats, drinks and wears haraam things. In the hadeeth it says: [The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] mentioned the man who undertakes a lengthy journey and is disheveled and covered with dust, and he stretches his hands towards heaven saying, ‘O Lord, O Lord,’ when his food is haraam, his drink is haraam, his clothes are haraam. He is nourished with haraam, so how can he be granted a response?

Narrated by Muslim, 1015.

Ibn al-Qayyim said: Thus eating haraam things saps the strength of the du’aa’ and weakens it.

8 – You should avoid aggression in du’aa’, for Allaah does not like aggression in du’aa’. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors”
[al-A’raaf 7:55]

9 – You should not let du’aa’ distract you from an obligatory duty such as an obligatory prayer that is now due, and you should not neglect parents’ rights on the basis of du’aa’. This is indicated by the story of Jurayj, when he did not answer his mother’s call and turned instead to his prayer. She prayed against him and Allaah tested him sorely.

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The scholars said: This indicates that what he should have done is to answer her, because he was offering a supererogatory (naafil prayer), continuation of which was voluntary, not obligatory, whereas answering his mother and honouring her was obligatory and disobeying her was haraam.

I would like to know whether the husband has the right, according to sharee‘ah, to interfere in his wife’s choice of friends. Is there any evidence in the Qur’aan or Sunnah?.

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

Naturally, a married woman will have friends from before her marriage, and there is nothing at all in sharee‘ah to keep her away from her friends, unless her husband does not give her permission for that. Rather, things remain as they are, so she may keep her friends from before, and they may visit her in her home and she may honour them with hospitality. This is how things were among the noble female Sahaabah, foremost among whom are the Mothers of the Believers, the wives of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

It was narrated that Umm Salamah said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prayed ‘Asr, then he entered upon me and some women from Banu Haraam, who were from among the Ansar, were with me.

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1233; Muslim, 834.

Here is Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her); the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) entered her house and found her female friends with her. Then she (may Allah be pleased with her) says that he prayed two rak‘ahs to make up the Sunnah prayer of Zuhr.

There is a great deal of evidence, but what we have quoted above is sufficient. In fact the basic principle is that the husband should honour his wife’s friends even after his wife dies! This is mentioned in the saheeh Sunnah.

It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I never felt jealous of any of the wives of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except Khadeejah, even though I never met her. But the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to mention her often, and sometimes he would slaughter a sheep then cut it up and send it to the friends of Khadeejah. One day I said to him: It is as if there is no woman in this world except Khadeejah! He said: “She was such and such, and I have children from her.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3607; Muslim, 2435.

Secondly:
What we have mentioned above does not contradict the wife’s duty to obey her husband if he tells her to end her relationship with one of her friends, or does not allow one of them to visit her, because the husband is in charge of the wives in the home, and he is a shepherd who is responsible for his flock. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other…”
[an-Nisa’ 4:34].

And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The man is the shepherd of his family and he is responsible for his flock.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 853; Muslim, 1829

The wife does not have the right to admit anyone into her husband’s house if the husband does not want that person to enter his house. And the wife does not have the right to go out of the marital house except with her husband’s permission. Even if he does not allow her to visit her family, she has to refrain from doing so. He may be unjust in this decision of his, in which case he is sinning; or he may be correct, in which case he will be rewarded. Whatever the case, it is obligatory for the wife to obey her husband in this regard. The wise woman will not put the friendship of a woman before her role as a wife who is happy with her husband and children in the marital home.

It was narrated that Jaabir said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Fear Allaah with regard to women, for you have taken them as a trust from Allaah, and intimacy with them has become permissible to you by the word of Allaah. Your rights over them are that they should not allow anyone whom you dislike to sit on your furniture. If they do that, then hit them, but in a manner that does not cause injury or leave a mark. Their rights over you are that you should provide for them and clothe them in a reasonable manner.”

Narrated by Muslim, 1218.

The husband’s preventing her from seeing a particular friend does not necessarily mean that that woman is of bad character or lacking in religious commitment; rather the pros and cons of any relationship are many and the wife may not understand these pros and cons in all cases.

But if the husband sees something in the friend’s attitude or religious commitment (or lack thereof) that makes this necessary, then the matter is clear and does not need any explanation.

‘நத்தார் பண்டிகை’ அல்லது ‘கிறிஸ்மஸ்’ – Christmas – என அழைக்கப்படும் ‘இயேசு கிறிஸ்த்துவின் பிறந்தநாள் விழா’ ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் டிசம்பர் 25 அன்று பெரும்பாலான கிறிஸ்த்தவர்களால் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றது. கிழக்கு மரபுவழி திருச்சபையினர் என்கின்ற கிறிஸ்த்தவ பிரிவினரால் ஜனவரி 7ம் நாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றது.

பிறந்த நாள் கொண்டாட்டம் அறிவுபூர்வமானதா? கிறிஸ்த்தவ நம்பிக்கையின்படி இறைமகனுக்கே(?) பிறந்தநாளா? என்கின்ற வாதப்பிரதிவாதங்களுக்குள் நுழையாமல் கிறிஸ்மஸ் பண்டிகை டிசம்பர் 25ல் கொண்டாடப்படுவது சரிதானா? என்பதை வரலாற்று ரீதியாகவும், பைபிள் மற்றும் திருக்குர்ஆன் ஒளியிலும் ஆய்வுக்குட்படுத்துவோம்.

வரலாற்று ஒளியில் கிறிஸ்மஸ்…

கிறிஸ்மஸின் தோற்றம்
ஆரம்ப கால கிறிஸ்த்தவ சமுதாயத்தில் கிறிஸ்மஸ் உள்ளிட்ட எந்தவொரு பிறந்த நாள் கொண்டாட்டங்களும் கொண்டாடப்படவில்லை. கிறிஸ்மஸ் நாள் மரபுவழி வருவதேயன்றி இயேசுவின் உண்மையான பிறந்தநாள் அல்ல. மேலும், கிறிஸ்மஸ் மரம், கிறிஸ்மஸ் தாத்தா, கிறிஸ்மஸ் கேக் போன்ற அனுஸ்டானங்கள் புராதன பாபிலோனிலிய மக்களின் கலாசாரம் என என்சைக்ளோபீடியா -The world book Encyclopedia – The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics – the Encyclopedia Americana – கூறுகின்றது.

விக்கிபீடியா தருகின்ற தகவலின் அடிப்படையில், இத்தாலி போன்ற நாடுகளில் காணப்பட்ட ‘சட்டர்நாலியா’ (சடுர்நலியா பண்டிகை) – Saturnalia – மற்றும் உரோமர்களால் டிசம்பர் 25ல் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வந்த வெற்றி வீரன் சூரியன் (Sol- Indicts) என்றழைக்கப்பட்ட சூரியக் கடவுளின் பிறந்தநாளான நட்டாலிஸ் சோலிஸ் இன்விக்ட்டி- Natalis Solis Invicti – (சோல் இன்விக்டுஸ்) என்கின்ற குளிர்கால பண்டிகைகளை தழுவியே கிறிஸ்மஸ் தோன்றியதாக கூறுகின்றது.

இதனை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் வகையில்,

கிறிஸ்த்தவ எழுத்தாளர்கள் இயேசுவின் பிறப்பை சூரியனின் மீள்உதயத்தோடு ஒப்பிட்டுள்ளதையும்,
இயேசு சோல்-இன் சூரியக்கடவுளாக சித்தரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதையும்,
சிப்ரியன் – Cyprian- என்கின்ற கிறிஸ்த்தவ மதபோதகரின் “எவ்வளவு அதிசயச் செயல் சூரியன் பிறந்த நாளில்…. கிறிஸ்த்துவும் பிறந்தது….” “ Oh ,how wonderfully acted Providence that on that day on which that Sun was born . . . Christ should be born…” என்கின்ற வாக்குமூலத்தையும்,
இவை எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் மேலாக, இதனை முழுக்க முழுக்க உறுதிப்படுத்துகின்ற “சோல் இன்விக்டுஸ்- கிறிஸ்மஸின் தொடக்கத்திற்கு மிகப்பெரிய பங்களிப்பு செய்துள்ளது” என்கின்ற கத்தோலிக்க கலைக்களஞ்சியத்தின் வாக்குமூலம்

போன்ற சான்றுகளை கோடிட்டு காட்டுவதன் மூலம், சூரியக் கடவுளின் பிறந்தநாள் உள்ளிட்ட குளிர்கால கொண்டாட்டங்களை அடிப்படையாக வைத்து மிகமிக பிற்பட்ட காலத்தில் தோன்றிய ஒரு பண்டிகையே கிறிஸ்மஸ் என்கின்ற கருத்தை உறுதி செய்கின்றது.

‘செக்டுஸ் ஜுலியஸ் அப்ரிகானுஸ்’ – Sextus Julius Africanus – என்கின்ற மூன்றாம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்த கிறிஸ்த்தவ எழுத்தாளரால் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து டிசம்பர் 25ல் பிறந்தார் என்கின்ற கருத்து வரலாற்றில் முன் வைக்கப்படுகின்றது. இதற்கு ‘ஒரிஜென்’- Origen – போன்ற ஆரம்பகால முக்கிய கிறிஸ்த்தவ மதகுருக்களே மிக கடுமையான எதிர்ப்பை வெளியிட்டனர். கிறிஸ்த்தவ இறையியல் அறிஞரான ஒரிஜென்,“பார்வோன்- pharaoh – அரசனைப் போன்று இயேசு கிறிஸ்த்துவின் பிறந்தநாளை கொண்டாடக்கூடாது என்றும், பாவிகளே அவ்வாறு செய்வதாகவும், புனிதர்கள் அவ்வாறு செய்யமாட்டார்கள்” என்றும் தனது கடும் கண்டனத்தை வெளியிட்டார்.

ரோமப் பேரரசன் ‘கான்ஸ்டான்டின்’ – Constantin – காலத்தில் இடம் பெற்ற நைசியன் திருச்சபை பிரகடனத்தில் -Declaration of Nicean Council –

சூரியக்கடவுளின் பிறந்தநாள் -டிசம்பர் 25- இயேசுநாதரின் பிறந்தநாளாகவும், சூரியக் கடவுளின் பெயரால் உரோமர்கள் கொண்டாடிய கொண்டாட்டங்கள்- கிறிஸ்த்துவின் பிறந்தநாள் கொண்டாட்டங்களாகவும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இக்கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்கள் ஒரேகடவுள் மூன்று நிலைகளில் உள்ளார் என்கின்ற கொள்கையை அடிப்படையாக கொண்ட கிறிஸ்த்தவ பிரிவினரால் கி.பி. 378ல் மீண்டும் உயிர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டது. கி.பி. 379ல் கொன்ஸ்தாந்துநோபலில் – Constantinople – அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்ட கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்கள் பெரும் சர்ச்சையை தோற்றுவித்ததாக எட்வர்ட் கிப்பன் – Edward Gibbon -என்கின்ற ஆய்வாளர் குறிப்பிடுகிறர். வழக்கொழிந்து போன கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்கள் கொன்ஸ்தாந்துநோபலில் கி.பி. 400 காலப்பகுதியில் ‘யோன் கிறிசொஸ்டம்’ -John Chrysostom- என்கின்ற கிறிஸ்த்தவ போதகரால் மீண்டும் உயிர்ப்பிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

மேலும், பேரரசன் சார்லிமெஜி -Charlemagie- என்பவன் கி.பி 800ம் ஆண்டு கிறிஸ்மஸ் நாளில் முடிசூட்டிக்கொண்டதாலும், கி.பி. 1066 ல் முதலாவது வில்லியம் (இங்கிலாந்து)- William I of England – மன்னன் கிறிஸ்மஸ் நாளில் முடிசூட்டிக்கொண்டதாலும் கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்கள் மீண்டும் உயிர்ப்பிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

மத்திய கால கிறிஸ்த்தவ சீர்திருத்த திருச்சபைகள் “கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்கள்- பாப்பரசின் ஆடம்பரம்” என்று விமர்சித்தனர். தூய்மைவாதிகள் -Puritans- எனும் கிறிஸ்த்தவ பிரிவினர் “கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்களை விலங்கின் (சாத்தானின்) கந்தல் துணி” என்று மிகக் கடுமையாக விமர்சித்தனர். மேலும் கி.பி. 1647ல் தூய்மைவாத கிறிஸ்த்தவ மறுசீரமைப்பினர் எனும் கிறிஸ்த்தவ பிரிவினர் முதலாம் சார்ல்ஸ் மன்னனின் உதவியோடு இங்கிலாந்தில் கிறிஸ்த்தவ கொண்டாட்டங்களை தடைசெய்தனர். இன்றும் கூட சில அங்கிலிக்கன் திருச்சபை கிறிஸ்த்தவ போதகர்களும், ஆர்மினியர்களும், செர்பியர்களும் கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டங்களை அங்கீகரிப்பதில்லை.

அந்தப்படி குடிமதிப்பெழுதப்படும்படிக்கு எல்லாரும் தங்கள் தங்கள் ஊர்களுக்குப் போனார்கள்.
அப்பொழுது யோசேப்பும், தான் தாவீதின் வம்சத்தானும் குடும்பத்தானுமாயிருந்தபடியினாலே, தனக்கு மனைவியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுக் கர்ப்பவதியான மரியாளுடனே குடிமதிப்பெழுதப்படும்படி,
கலிலேயா நாட்டிலுள்ள நாசரேத்தூரிலிருந்து யூதேயா நாட்டிலுள்ள பெத்லகேம் என்னும் தாவீதின் ஊருக்குப்போனான்.
அவ்விடத்திலே அவர்கள் இருக்கையில், அவளுக்குப் பிரசவகாலம் நேரிட்டது.
அவள் தன் முதற்பேறான குமாரனைப்பெற்று, சத்திரத்திலே அவர்களுக்கு இடமில்லாதிருந்தபடியினால், பிள்ளையைத் துணிகளில் சுற்றி, முன்னணையிலே கிடத்தினாள்.
அப்பொழுது அந்தநாட்டிலே மேய்ப்பர்கள் வயல்வெளியில் தங்கி, இராத்திரியிலே தங்கள் மந்தையை காத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

இயேசுவின் தாய் மரியாள், யோசேப் என்பவரின் துணையோடு நாசரத் எனும் ஊரிலிருந்து யூதேயா நாட்டில் உள்ள பெத்லகேம் எனும் ஊருக்கு சனத்தொகை கணக்கெடுப்புக்காக நீண்ட தூரம் பிரயாணம் செய்துள்ளதாக பைபிள் கூறுகின்றது. போக்குவரத்து வசதிகள் குன்றிய அக்காலகட்டத்தில் மரியாள் மேற்கொண்ட பயணம் மிகக் கடினமானது என்பதில் யாருக்கும் மாற்றுக் கருத்து கிடையாது.

இப்போது நமது கேள்வி என்னவென்றால், பைபிள் குறிப்பிடுகின்ற பிரதேசங்கள் டிசம்பர் 25 காலப்பகுதியில் பனிஉறையக் கூடிய மிகக் கடுமையான காலகட்டமாகும். அக்காலகட்டத்தில் வாணிபக்கூட்டம் உள்ளிட்ட யாரும் பயணங்கள் மேற்கொள்வதில்லை. எனவே, மக்கள் பயணம் செய்ய முடியாத குளிர்காலத்தில் அகுஸ்துராயனால் இக்கட்டளை நிச்சயம் இடப்பட்டிருக்க முடியாது.

பனிஉறைகின்ற குளிர்காலத்தில் இடையர்கள் வயல்வெளிகளில் தங்குவது கிடையாது. மாறாக, அறுவடை முடிந்ததன் பிற்பாடு கோடையின் பிற்பகுதியிலேயே வயல்வெளிகளில் தங்கி,மந்தையைக் காத்து வருவது (கிடை கட்டுவது) வழக்கமாகும். அதன் மூலம் அறுவடை முடிந்த விளைநிலங்களை அடுத்த வேளாண்மைக்கு முன் இயற்கை உரமிட்டு வளப்படுத்துவதும் வழக்கமாகும்.
எனவே, பைபிளின் கூற்றுப்படி இயேசுவின் பிறப்பு நிகழ்ந்தது கோடையின் பிற்பகுதியாகும். மாறாக, குளிர்காலமான டிசம்பர் 25 கிடையாது.

இது குறித்து -Joe Kovacs- என்கின்ற கிறிஸ்த்தவ அறிஞர் தனது ‘Shocked by the Bible’ எனும் நூலில் இயேசு டிசம்பர் 25ல் பிறந்தார் என்கின்ற கருத்தை நிராகரிக்கிறார்.

மேலும் lord.activeboard.com எனும் கிறிஸ்த்தவ வலைத்தளம் இயேசு கிறிஸ்த்துவின் பிறப்பு குறித்து பைபிளை மேற்கோள் காட்டி குறிப்பிடுகின்ற விபரங்களை தகவலுக்காக தருகின்றேன்.

இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதி அல்ல என்பதற்கு ரூபகாரம்- 1.
அதாவது, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு முன்னோடியான யோவான் ஸ்நானகன் என்ற ஸ்நான அருளப்பர் வயதிலேயே இயேசுவுக்கு ஆறு மாதங்களுக்கு மூத்தவர். எப்படியெனில் காபிரியேல் தூதர் இயேசுவின் தாயாகிய மரியாளுக்கு வாழ்த்துதல் கூறும்போது யோவான் ஸ்நானகனின் தாயாகிய எலிசபெத்துக்கு இது ஆறாம் மாதம் என்றார். ஆகவே, இயேசுவின் பிறந்த நாளை கண்டு பிடிக்க யோவான் ஸ்நானகனின் பிறப்பை கவனிப்பது அவசியம். எனவே, லுக்கா 1:5 முதல் 20 வசனங்களை வாசிக்கவும்.

இதில் 5-ம் வசனத்தில் அபியா என்ற ஆசாரிய முறைமையில் -Order- சகரியா என்ற ஒருவன் இருந்தான் என்றும், 8-9 வசனங்களில் சகரியா தன் ஆசாரிய முறைமையின்படி தேவ சந்நிதியிலே தூபங்காட்டுகிறதற்கு சீட்டைப் பெற்றான் என்று வாசிக்கிறோம்.

எனவே, யோவான் ஸ்நானகனின் தகப்பனாகிய சகரியா ஆலயத்திலே ஊழியம் செய்த, அந்த அபியாவின் முறை என்னவென்றும், அது எக்காலம் என்றும் நாம் அறிவது அவசியம்.

அதாவது தாவீது அரசனின் காலத்தில் ஆலயத்தில் ஆசாரிய ஊழியம் செய்ய, முறைமை வகுக்கப்பட்டது எப்படியெனில் ஆசாரிய ஊழியம் செய்ய 24 ஆசாரியர்கள் இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஒரு மாதத்திற்கு இரண்டு இரண்டு பேராக 12 மாதத்திற்கும் 24 ஆசாரியர்களாக முறைப்படுத்தப்பட்டனர். ஒரு மாதத்தின் முதல் 15 நாட்களுக்கு ஒரு ஆசாரியனும் பின் 15 நாட்களுக்கு ஒரு ஆசாரியனுமாக முறைப்படுத்தப்பட்டு, ஆசாரியர்களின் பெயர்களை எழுதி சீட்டுப் போட்டு யார் யார் எப்போது ஆலயத்திலே ஊழியம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று, தாவீது அரசன் முறைப்படுத்தி இருந்தான்.

முதலாம் சீட்டுப் பெற்றவன் முதலாம் மாதம் முன் 15 நாட்களுக்கும், இரண்டாவது சீட்டுப் பெற்றவன் முதலாம் மாதம் பின் 15 நாட்களுக்கும் ஆசாரிய ஊழியம் செய்ய வேண்டும். அந்தப்படி, எட்டாவது அபியா என்ற ஆசாரியனுக்கு சீட்டு விழுந்தது. எட்டாவது எண்ணும்போது அபியாவின் ஊழியகாலம் எபிரேயரின் மாதப்படி 4-ம் மாதமாகிய தம்மூஸ் மாதம் பின் 15 நாட்களாகும். இந்த காரியங்களை 1 நாளாகம புஸ்தகம் 21-ம் அதிகாரத்தில் பார்க்கலாம்.

எனவே, சகரியா ஆலயத்தில் ஊழியம் செய்த காலம் அவனது முன்னோரான அபியாவின் முறைமையின்படி எபிரேய மாதமான 4-ம் மாதம், தம்மூஸ் மாதத்தின் பின் 15 நாளாகும். சகரியாவின் இந்த ஊழியகாலம் நிறைவேறிய பின்பு அவன் வீட்டுக்குப்போனான். எந்த ஆசாரியனும் தனது ஆலய ஊழியக்காலத்தில் வீட்டிற்குப் போகமாட்டான். அந்த 15 நாட்களும் ஆலயத்திலே தங்கியிருப்பார்கள். ஊழியகாலம் நிறைவேறிய பின்பே தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குப் போவது வழக்கம் அதன்படி, சகரியா தனது ஊழிய காலம் நிறைவேறின பின்பு, தனது வீட்டிற்குப் போனான். அதன் பிறகு அவன் மனைவி கர்பவதியானாள். (லுக்.1:23-24)

எனவே, யோவான் ஸ்நானகளின் தாய் எலிசபெத்து கர்ப்பம் தரித்து எபிரேய மாதப்படி 5-ம் மாதமாகிய ஆப் என்னும் மாதம் இது தமிழ் மாதத்திற்கு ஆடிமாதம், ஆங்கில மாதத்திற்கு ஜீலை மாதமாகும். எலிசபெத்தின் ஆறாம் மாதத்தில் காபிரியேல் தூதர் மரியாவிடம் அனுப்பப்பட்டார் (லுக்.1:26-28).

ஆகவே, காபிரியேல் மரியாளை சந்தித்து தேவசித்தத்தை தெரிவிக்கவும். உன்னதமானவரின் பெலன் நிழலிடவும், மரியாள் கர்ப்பவதியானாள். எனவே மரியாள் கர்ப்பம் தரித்தது எலிசபெத்தின் ஆறாம் மாதத்தில், அதவாது, ஆடி மாதத்திலிருந்து ஆறு மாதம் தள்ளி மார்கழி மாதத்திலிருந்து பத்தாம் மாதம் இயேசு பிறந்த மாதம்.

அதாவது மார்கழி 1, தை 2, மாசி 3, பங்குனி 4, சித்திரை 5, வைகாசி 6, ஆனி 7, ஆடி 8, ஆவணி 9, புரட்டாசி 10. புரட்டாசி மாதமே இயேசு பிறந்தமாதம். இது ஆங்கில மாதத்திற்கு அக்டோபர் மாதம். எனவே, இயேசு பிறந்தது டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதியல்ல தமிழ் மாதமாகிய புரட்டாசி கடைசியிலும், ஆங்கில மாத்திலே அக்டோபர் முதலுக்குமாகும். இது எபிரேய மாதத்திற்கு ஏழாம் மாதம் எத்தானீம் மாதமாகும்.

இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதி அல்ல என்பதற்கு ரூபகாரம்-2.

அதாவது இயேசுவின் மரணநாள் வேதத்தில் திட்டமாக கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது யூதர் முறைப்படியான நீசான் மாதம் 14-ம் தேதி, முதல் மாதமாகிய நீசான் மாதம் நமது தமிழ் மாதமான பங்குனி மாதத்திற்கு சமமானது. ஆங்கில மாதம் மார்ச் கடைசியிலோ அல்லது ஏப்ரல் மாதம் முதலுக்கோ இருக்கும். இயேசு தமது 33½ வசயதில் மரித்தார் என்பதை தானியேல் தீர்க்கதரிசியின் புத்தகத்தின் வாயிலாக திட்டமாக அறியலாம். (தானி.9:24-47) இயேசு 33 வயதில் அல்ல. 33½ வயதில் மரித்தார். இது மார்ச் மாதக் கடைசியிலோ அல்லது ஏப்ரல் முதலுக்கோ வருகிறது என்றால் அவரது பிறந்தநாள் அதற்கு 6 மாதத்திற்கு முன்னதாக இருக்க வேண்டும். எனவே, மார்ச் மாதத்திலிருந்து பின்நோக்கி 6 மாதம் சென்றால் மார்ச் 1, பிப்ரவரி 2, ஜனவரி 3, டிசம்பர் 4, நவம்பர் 5, அக்டோபர் 6. எனவே, இயேசு பிறந்தது டிசம்பர் 25 அல்ல. அக்டோபர் மாதத்தில் என்பது தெளிவு.

இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதி அல்ல என்பதற்கு ரூபகாரம்-3.

இயேசுகிறிஸ்து டிசம்பர் 25-ல் பிறக்கவில்லை என்பதற்கு மேலும் ஒரு எடுத்துக்காட்டு உண்டு. அதாவது, இயேசுகிறிஸ்து பிறந்தபோது அவரது பிறப்பை தேவ தூதர் மேய்ப்பர்களுக்கு அறிவித்தார் என வாசிக்கிறோம். தேவ தூதர் மேய்ப்பர்களுக்கு தரிசனமானபோது அவர்கள் வயல்வெளிகளில் ஆட்டு மந்தைகளை வைத்திருந்தார்கள். (லூக்.2:8:11) டிசம்பர் மாதத்தில் நம் நாட்டில் இருப்பதுபோல கிஸ்லேவ் என்ற ஒன்பதாம் மாதம் பலஸ்தீனாவில் கடுங்களிராகயிருக்கும். அது அடைமழை காலமாகவும், குளிர்காலமாகவும் இருப்பதால் அக்காலங்களில் மேய்ப்பர்கள் தங்கள் மந்தைகளை வயல்வெளிகளில் நிறுத்தமாட்டார்கள் இதை எஸ்றாவின் புத்தகத்திலும், பலஸ்தீனா சரித்திரங்களிலும் நாம் அறியலாம். (எஸ்றா. 10:9,13: எரே. 3:22)

எனவே, மேய்ப்பர்கள் வயல்வெளியில் தங்கியிருந்த காலம் மழைக்காலமாகிய டிசம்பருக்கு முன்னான காலமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அக்டோபர் மாதமே மந்தைகளை வயல்வெளிகளில் வைப்பதற்கு ஏற்ற காலம். எனவே, இயேசு பிறந்தது டிசம்பர் மாதத்தில் அல்ல. அது டிசம்பருக்கு முன்னான அக்டோபர் மாதத்தில்தான் என்பதை நிதானித்து பார்க்கும் போது அறிந்து கொள்ளலாம்.

இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதி அல்ல என்பதற்கு ரூபகாரம்- 4.

மேலும், சில காரியங்களை கவனிப்போமானால் இந்த கிறிஸ்துமஸ் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடும் வழக்கம், திருச்சபையின் தொடக்க காலங்களில் இல்லை. சுமார் 4-ம் நூற்றாண்டு வாக்கிலேதான் கிறிஸ்துமஸ் பண்டிகை முதல் முதலாகக் கொண்டாடப்பட்டதாக –Encyclopaedia- மூலமாக அறியலாம். இதை ஆதி திருச்சபை வரலாறு நமக்குத் தெளிவாக்குகிறது. அதாவது வடஜரோப்பா கண்டத்தில் வாழ்ந்த துத்தானிய ஜாதியினர் கிறிஸ்து மார்க்கத்தை தழுவும் முன்னே, அவர்கள் இயற்கை சக்திகளை வழிபட்டு வந்தார்கள். சூரியனை வணங்கி அதன் கால மாற்றங்களை பண்டிகையாக கொண்டாடி வந்தனர். அதாவது சூரியனுக்கும், பூமிக்கும் உள்ள தொடர்பில், சூரியன் பூமத்திய ரேகையிலிருந்து வடக்கு நோக்கி சஞ்சரித்து டிசம்பர் 22-ந் தேதி வடஅட்சத்தில் கடகரேகையை அடைகிறது. இது வட ஐரோப்பாவில் சூரியன் தென்படும் உச்ச நிலையாகும். இது ஜுலியன் காலண்டர்படி டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதி என கணிக்கபட்டது. ஆகவே, அந்த நாளிலே அங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்கள் சூரியனுக்கு ஒரு பெரிய பண்டிகையாக ‘ஒளித்திருவிழா’ -Festival of Fires- என்று கொண்டாடி வந்தனர்.இதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக அதிலிருந்து 8-ம் நாள் ‘மகிழ்ச்சி திருவிழா’ -Joy Festival- என்று ஜனவரியில் கொண்டாடி வந்தனர். ஜெர்மானிய துத்தானிய ஜாதியினரான இவர்கள் தாங்கள் கிறிஸ்தவர்களாக மாறியும் தங்கள் பழைய பழக்கவழக்கங்களை விட்டுவிட மனம் இல்லாததால் டிசம்பர் 25 கிறிஸ்து பிறந்த நாளாகவும் அதிலிருந்து 8-ம் நாள் ஜனவரி முதல் தேதி இயேசுவின் விருத்தசேதன நாளாகவும் பிரகடனப்படுத்திவிட்டனர்.

இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் டிசம்பர் 25-ம் தேதி அல்ல என்பதற்கு ரூபகாரம்- 5.

இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாளை கொண்டாடும்படி வேதத்தில் எங்கும் சொல்லப்படவில்லை. சீடர்களும் கொண்டாடவில்லை. ஆனால் கிறிஸ்துவின் மரண நாளை நினைவுகூறும்படி கற்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது (லூக். 22:19) கர்த்தரின் ஞாபகார்த்தபஸ்காவாகிய இராப்போஜன பண்டிகையே அவரது மரணத்தை நினைவு கூறும் நாளாயிருக்கிறது. (1. கொரி. 11:22-26)

மேற்படி வலைத்தளம் பைபிளை மேற்கோள்காட்டி இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் டிசம்பர் 25 அல்ல. அக்டோபர் தான் என ஆதார அடிப்படையில் வாதடுகின்றது.

பைபிளில் எங்குமே இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாள் பற்றிய எந்தவொரு குறிப்பும் கிடையாது. மேலும், இயேசுவின் பிறந்தநாளை கொண்டாடுமாறு பைபிள் கட்டளையிடவுமில்லை.

மாறாக, பைபிள் வசனங்களை ஆய்குட்படுத்தும் போது இயேசு கோடைகாலத்தின் இறுதிப்பகுதியில் பிறந்தார் என்கின்ற முடிவுக்கே வரமுடிகின்றது.

திருக்குர்ஆன் ஒளியில்..
இயேசு கிறிஸ்த்து அவரை திருக்குர்ஆன் “ஈஸா” என்று அழைக்கின்றது. ‘அவர் மீது சர்வ வல்லமை பொருந்திய கர்த்தரின் சாந்தியும், சமாதானமும் உண்டாகட்டும்’ என்று முஸ்லிம்கள் வாழ்த்து கூறுகின்றார்கள். இறைவேதம் திருக்குர்ஆனில் 19 வது அத்தியாயம் அன்னாரின் அருமைத் தாயார் மர்யம் -மரியாள்- அவர்களின் பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது. அந்த அத்தியாயத்தின் 22-26 வசனங்கள் இயேசுவின் பிறப்பைப் பற்றி பேசுகின்றது.

இதோ இறைமறையின் வார்த்தைகள்…
22. பின்னர் கருவுற்று அக்கருவுடன் தூரமான இடத்தில் ஒதுங்கினார்.
23. பிரசவ வலி அவரை ஒரு பேரீச்சை மரத்தின் அடிப்பாகத்திற்குக் கொண்டு சென்றது. ”நான் இதற்கு முன்பே இறந்துஇ அடியோடு மறக்கடிக்கப்பட்டவளாக இருந்திருக்கக் கூடாதா?” என்று அவர் கூறினார்.
24. ”கவலைப்படாதீர்! உமது இறைவன் உமக்குக் கீழே ஊற்றை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளான்” என்று அவரது கீழ்ப்புறத்திலிருந்து வானவர் அழைத்தார்.
25. ”பேரீச்சை மரத்தின் அடிப்பாகத்தை உலுக்குவீராக! அது உம் மீது பசுமையான பழங்களைச் சொரியும்” (என்றார்)
26. நீர், உண்டு பருகி மன நிறைவடைவீராக! மனிதர்களில் எவரையேனும் நீர் கண்டால் ”நான் அளவற்ற அருளாளனுக்கு நோன்பு நோற்பதாக நேர்ச்சை செய்து விட்டேன். எந்த மனிதனுடனும் பேச மாட்டேன்” என்று கூறுவாயாக.

திருமறைக்குர்ஆன் குறிப்பிடுகின்ற பேரீச்சம் பழம் உதிரக்கூடிய காலம் கோடையின் பிற்பகுதியாகும்.

எனவே, திருக்குர்ஆன் மற்றும் பைபிள் இயேசுவின் பிறப்பு குறித்து ஒத்தகருத்தையே –கோடை காலத்தின் இறுதிப்பகுதி- கூறுகின்றது. மாறாக, கிறிஸ்த்தவ அன்பர்கள்களால் கிறிஸ்மஸ்கொண்டாடப்படுகின்ற டிசம்பர் 25ம்நாள், என்பது பைபிள் மற்றும் திருக்குர்ஆனுக்கு எதிரானது.

எல்லா நாட்களும் நல்ல நாட்களே!

அல்லாஹ் படைத்த எல்லா நாட்களும் நல்ல நாட்கள்தான், சில நாட்கள் நல்லதென்றும் சில நாட்கள் கெட்டதென்றும் கருதுவது கூடாது. இது இஸ்லாத்தின் கண்ணோட்டத்தில் மிக பெரும் குற்றமும் மூட நம்பிக்கையுமாகும். ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் அது சிலருக்கு சந்தோஷமான நிகழ்வுகள் நடக்கக்கூடியதாகவும் சிலருக்கு கவலையான நிகழ்வுகள் நடக்கக்கூடியதாகவும் இருக்கும். அல்லது ஒருவருக்கு இரண்டு நிகழ்வுகளும் ஒரே நாளில் நடக்கவும் செய்யும். இதை வைத்து அந்த நாளை நல்ல நாள் என்றோ கெட்ட நாள் என்றோ கூறிவிட முடியாது. இவ்வுலகம் சோதனைக் கூடமாகும். மரணிக்கும் வரை ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனும் பல விதமான சோதனைகளைக் கொண்டு சோதிக்கப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே இருப்பான். சோதனைகள் வரும்போது அதை ஒரு முஸ்லிம் பொறுத்துக் கொள்ளவும் பொருந்திக் கொள்ளவும் வேண்டும். அது அவனுடைய பாவங்களுக்கு பரிகாரமாக அமைகின்றது.

இவ்வாறு ஒவ்வொரு முஸ்லிமும் நம்ப வேண்டும். இப்படி ஈமான் கொள்வது ஈமானின் அடிப்படைகளில் ஒன்றாகும்.

அல்லாஹ்வையும் வானவர்களையும் நபிமார்களையும் கியாமத் நாளையும் நல்லதும் கெட்டதும் அல்லாஹ் விதித்த விதியின்படி நடக்கின்றது என்று ஈமான் கொள்வதுதான் (உண்மையான) ஈமானாகும் என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். ஆதாரம்: முஸ்லிம்

ஆகவே நமக்கு நடக்கக்கூடிய நல்ல கெட்ட காரியங்கள் அனைத்தும் அல்லாஹ் நம்மீது விதித்த விதியின்படியே நடக்கின்றதென்று நம்ப வேண்டுமே தவிர, இன்று கெட்ட நாள், இதனால்தான் எனக்கு இந்த ஆபத்து நடந்ததென்று கூறுவது மூட நம்பிக்கையும் இஸ்லாத்தின் அடிப்படையையே தகர்க்கக்கூடிய ஒன்றாகும்.

சோதனையின்றி வாழ்வில்லை

அல்லாஹ் திருமறையில் இவ்வாறு கூறுகின்றான்.
நிச்சயமாக நாம் உங்களை ஓரளவு அச்சத்தாலும், பசியாலும், பொருள்கள், உயிர்கள், விளைச்சல்கள் ஆகியவற்றின் இழப்பினாலும் சோதிப்போம்; ஆனால் பொறுமையுடையோருக்கு (நபியே!) நீர் நன்மாராயங் கூறுவீராக! (அல்குர்ஆன் 2:155)

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள்:
முஃமினான ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் தூய்மையானவர்களாக (பாவமற்ற நிலையில்) அல்லாஹ்வை சந்திக்க வேண்டுமென்பதற்காக அவர்கள் விஷயத்திலும் அவர்களின் பிள்ளைகள் விஷயத்திலும் அவர்களின் பொருள் விஷயத்திலும் அவர்கள் மரணிக்கும் வரை அவர்களுக்கு சோதனை வந்து கொண்டே இருக்கும். ஆதாரம்: திர்மிதி

ஒவ்வொன்றும் அல்லாஹ்வின் விதிப்படியே நடக்கின்றது

ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனும் தனக்கு ஏற்படக்கூடிய ஆபத்துக்களை இது அல்லாஹ்வின் ஏற்பாட்டினால் தான் (களா கத்ரினால்தான்) ஏற்பட்டதென்றும், நான் பிறப்பதற்கு பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே இது எழுதப்பட்டு முடிந்து விட்டதென்றும் இது நடக்காமல் இருப்பதற்கு வாய்ப்பே இல்லையென்றும் நம்பாத வரை அவர்கள் உண்மையான முஃமினாக முடியாது.

இப்னு உமர்(ரலி) அவர்கள் அறிவிக்கின்றார்கள், இப்னு உமரின் ஆத்மா யார் கைவசம் இருக்கிறதோ அவன் மீது சத்தியமாக! களாகத்ரை (விதியை) ஈமான் கொள்ளாதவர், உஹது மலை அளவு தங்கத்தை அல்லாஹ்வின் வழியில் செலவு செய்தாலும் அதை அல்லாஹ் ஏற்கமாட்டான் எனக்கூறி, இதற்கு ஆதாரமாக பின்வரும் ஹதீஸை கூறினார்கள். அல்லாஹ்வையும் வானவர்களையும் ரஸுல்மார்களையும் கியாமத் நாளையும் நல்லதும் கெட்டதும் அல்லாஹ் விதித்த விதியின்படி நடக்கின்றது என்று ஈமான் கொள்வதுதான் (உண்மையான) ஈமானாகும் என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். ஆதாரம்: முஸ்லிம்

உபாதா பின் சாமித்(ரலி) அவர்கள் தன் மகனைப்பார்த்து, மகனே! உனக்கு ஏற்படுகிற துன்பங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் விதியேயாகும். அது உனக்கு வராமல் போய்விடாது என்ற உண்மையையும், உனக்கு ஏற்படாது சென்றுவிட்ட துன்பங்கள் உனக்கு வரவேண்டியதல்ல என்ற உண்மையையும் நீ அறிந்து கொள்ளாதவரை நிச்சயமாக நீ உண்மையான ஈமானின் சுவையைப் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளமாட்டாய் எனக்கூறி, பின்வரும் ஹதீஸையும் எடுத்துக் கூறினார்கள்.

அல்லாஹ் எழுது கோலை முதலில் படைத்து நீ எழுது எனக் கட்டளையிட, எதை எழுத வேண்டும் என அது கேட்க, இறுதிநாள் வரைக்கும் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் உண்டான விதிகளை எழுது என அல்லாஹ் கட்டளையிட்டான், என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூற நான் கேட்டுள்ளேன் எனக் கூறி, மகனே! இவ்வாறு விதியை நம்பாது ஒருவர் மரணித்து விடுவாராயின் அவர் என்னை சார்ந்தவரல்ல என்று நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள் எனவும் எடுத்துரைத்தார்கள். ஆதாரம்: அஹ்மத்

இப்னு அபூதைலமீ அவர்கள் அறிவிக்கிறார்கள், நான் உபை பின் கஃபை அணுகி, என் உள்ளத்தில் விதியைப்பற்றி சிறிது சந்தேகம் உள்ளது. அதை நீக்குவதற்கு ஏதாவது சொல்லித்தாருங்கள். அல்லாஹ் அந்த சந்தேகத்தை போக்கிவிடுவான் என்று கூறினேன். அதற்கு உபை பின் கஃபு(ரலி) அவர்கள் பின்வருமாறு கூறினார்கள். (இப்னு அபூ தைலமியே!) நிச்சயமாக உமக்கு ஏற்படும் துன்பங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் விதியேயாகும். அது உமக்கு வராமல் போகாது எண்ற உண்மையையும், உமக்கு எற்படாது சென்றுவிட்ட துன்பங்கள் உமக்கு வரவேண்டியதல்ல என்ற உண்மையையம் அறிந்து, களா கத்ரைக் கொண்டு நீர் ஈமான் கொள்ளாதவரை உஹது மலை அளவு தங்கத்தை செலவு செய்தாலும் அதை அல்லாஹ் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளமாட்டான். இவ்வாறு நீர் களாகத்ரைக் கொண்டு ஈமான் கொள்ளாது மரணித்துவிட்டால் நீர் நரகவாசிகளில் ஒருவரே என்றார்கள். பின்பு நான் அப்துல்லாஹ் பின் மஸ்ஊத்(ரலி) அவர்களிடமும் ஹுஸைஃபா பின் அல்யமான்(ரலி) அவர்களிடமும் வந்தேன். இவர்கள் எல்லோரும் இது போலவே நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறியதாக கூறினார்கள்.
ஆதாரம்: அஹ்மத், அபூதாவூத்

சோதனை வருவது அல்லாஹ் நம்மீது வைத்திருக்கும் நேசத்தையே வெளிக்காட்டுகின்றது.

அல்லாஹ் தன் அடியாருக்கு நலவை நாடினால் இவ்வுலகிலேயே தண்டனை (சோதனை)யை வழங்குகின்றான். அல்லாஹ் தன் அடியாருக்கு கெடுதியை நாடினால் மறுமையில் தண்டனையை முழுமையாக வழங்குவதற்காக இவ்வுலகில் எவ்வித தண்டனையும் (சோதனையும்) வழங்குவதில்லை, அதிக சோதனையுடன்தான் அதிக கூலியும் கிடைக்கும், அல்லாஹ் ஒரு கூட்டத்தை நேசித்தால் அவர்களை சோதிப்பான். அதை யார் பொருந்திக் கொள்கின்றார்களோ அவருக்கு அல்லாஹ்வின் பொருத்தம் கிடைக்கின்றது, யார் அதை கோபிக்கின்றாரோ அவருக்கு அல்லாஹ்வின் கோபம் கிடைக்கின்றது என நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். ஆதாரம்: திர்மிதி

ஸஃபர் மாதமும் மற்ற மாதங்களைப் போன்று நல்ல மாதம்தான்

சோதனைகள் அனைத்தும் அல்லாஹ்வின் விதிப்படியே நடக்கின்றது என நம்ப வேண்டிய ஒரு முஸ்லிம், ஸஃபர் மாதம் பீடையுள்ள மாதம் என்றும், அதில் நல்ல காரியங்கள் செய்யக்கூடாது என்றும், பீடையயை களிப்பதற்காக ஸஃபர் மாதத்தின் மூன்றாம் புதன் கிழமை ஆற்றில் குடும்பத்துடன் குளித்து இன்னும் இது போன்ற பல சடங்குகளையும் செய்து அந்தப்பீடையை போக்கவேண்டும் என்று எண்ணி பல சடங்கு சம்ரிரதாயங்களை ஸஃபர் மாதத்தில் நமது இஸ்லாமிய பல சகோதர சகோதரிகள் செய்கின்றார்கள். இது இஸ்லாத்திற்கு முற்றிலும் மாற்றமான செயலும் மூட நம்பிக்கையுமாகும். இப்படிப்பட்ட இஸ்லாத்திற்கு மாற்றமான நம்பிக்கைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு அனைத்தும் அல்லாஹ்வின் நாட்டப்படியே நடக்கின்றது என்று நம்ப வேண்டும். ஸஃபர் மாதம் பீடையுள்ள மாதம் என்றிருந்தால் அதை நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் நமக்கு அறிவித்திருப்பார்கள். அப்படிப்பட்ட எந்த இறை வசனமோ நபி மொழியோ கிடையாது. மாறாகஸஃபர் மாதம் பீடையுள்ள மாதம் என்று நம்புவதை தடுக்கும் நபிமொழியைத்தான் பார்க்க முடியும்.

இஸ்லாத்தில் தொற்றுநோய் என்பதில்லை, துர்ச்சகுணம் பார்ப்பது கூடாது, ஆந்தை சாஸ்திரம் பார்ப்பதும் கூடாது, சஃபர் (மாத பீடையும்) கிடையாது, நட்சத்திர சகுணம் பார்ப்பதும் கிடையாது, கொள்ளி வாய்ப் பிசாசுமில்லை என நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள்.ஆதாரம்: முஸ்லிம்

ஸஃபர் மாதத்தை பீடையுள்ள மாதம் என்பதற்கு, இந்த மூட நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவர்கள் கூறும் காரணம், நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் ஸஃபர் மாத முற்பகுதியில் நோயுற்றிருந்து அம்மாதத்தின் மூன்றாம் வாரத்தின் புதன் கிழமை நோயிலிருந்து குணமடைந்தார்கள். ஆகவே அம்மாதம் பீடையுள்ள மாதமாகும், மூன்றாம் வாரத்தில் நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் நோயிலிருந்து குணமடைந்தது போல், நாமும் பீடையை மூன்றாம் வாரத்தில் நீக்க வேண்டும் என்று கூறுகின்றார்கள். ஆனால் இது முற்றிலும் தவறான வாதமாகும். நோயுறுவது பீடையா? முன்பு கூறியது போன்று இது அல்லாஹ்வின் விதிப்படி நடந்ததென்று ஒரு முஸ்லிம் நம்ம வேண்டும்.

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள், ஸஃபர் மாதத்தில் மட்டுமா நோயுற்றிருந்தார்கள், ரபீஉல் அவ்வல் மாதத்திலும்தான் நோயுற்றிருந்தார்கள், இதை யாரும் மறுக்க முடியாது. நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் மரணிப்பதற்கு முன் கிட்டத்தட்ட 17 நாட்கள் நோயுற்றிருந்தார்கள். நபி(ஸல்) அவர்கள் ரபீஉல் அவ்வல் மாதம் பிறை 12ல் மரணித்தார்கள், அந்த நாளை யாராவது பீடையுள்ள மாதம் என்று கூறுகின்றார்களா? அதை கொண்டாடும் நாளாக அல்லவா? எடுக்கின்றார்கள். நமக்குள் நாமே முரண்படுகின்றோம்.

ஆகவே ஸஃபர் மாதத்தையும் மற்ற மாதங்களைப் போன்று நல்ல மாதமாக நினைத்து நமது அன்றாட காரியங்களை செய்ய வேண்டும். ஸஃபர் மாதத்தில் ஏதும் சோதனைகள் வந்தால்கூட அது ஸஃபர் மாத்தினால் ஏற்படவில்லை, அல்லாஹ்வின் ஏற்பாட்டினால்தான் வந்தது என்று நம்ப வேண்டும். இப்படிபட்ட உறுதியான ஈமானை அல்லாஹ் நம் அனைவருக்கும் தந்தருள்வானாக!

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

The Islamic Ruling on Horoscopes

Not only is the practice of astrology is Haraam, but also visiting an astrologer and listening to his predictions, buying books on astrology or reading ones horoscope are also forbidden. Since astrology is mainly used to predicting the future, those who practice it are considered fortunetellers. Consequently, one who seeks his horoscope comes under the ruling contained in the Prophets sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam statement:

The Salaah (daily prayer) of whoever approaches a fortuneteller and asks him about anything will not be accepted for forty days and nights.
[Saheeh Muslim vol.4,p. 1211, no 5440]

The punishment in this hadith is simply for approaching the asking the astrologer, even if one is in doubt about the truth of his statements. If one is in doubt about the truth or falsehood of astrological information, he is in doubt about whether or not others know the unseen and the future besides Allaah.

This is a form of shirk because Allaah clearly stated:
â€œAnd with Him are the keys of ghayb [all that is hidden], none knows them but He and He knows whatever there is in [or on) the earth and the sea; not a leaf falls, but the knows it. There is not a grain in darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or day, but is written in a clear record." [6:59]

â€œSay: None in the heavens and the earth knows the ghaby (unseen) except Allaah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected.â€ [27:65]

If, however, one believes in the predictions of their horoscope, whether spoken by an astrologer or written in books of astrology, he falls directly into kufr (disbelief) as stated by the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam:

Whoever approaches an oracle or fortune-teller and believes in what he says, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.
[Sunan Abu Dawood vol.3, p.1095, no.3895]

Like the previous Hadith, the Hadith literally refers to the fortuneteller but it is just as applicable to the astrologer. Both claim knowledge of the future.

The astrologers claim is just as opposed to the Tawheed as the ordinary fortuneteller. He claims that peoples personalities are determined by the stars, and their future actions and the events of their lives are written in the stars.

The ordinary fortuneteller claims that the formation of tea leaves at the bottom of a cup, or lines on the palm hand tell him the same thing. In both cases individuals claim the ability to read in the physical formation of created objects knowledge of the unseen.

Belief in astrology and the casting of horoscopes are in clear opposition to the letter and spirit of Islaam. It is really the empty soul, which has not tasted real eemaan (belief) that seeks out these paths. Essentially these paths, represents a vain attempt to escape Qadr (fate). The ignorant believe that if they know what is in store for them tomorrow, they can prepare from today. In that way, they may avoid the bad and ensure the good.

Yet, Allaahâ€™s messenger was told by Allaah to say:

â€œSay (O Muhammad sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam): I possess no power over benefit or hurt to myself except as Allaah wills. If I had the knowledge of the ghayb (unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touch me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe. [7:188]

True Muslims are therefore obliged to stay far away from these areas. Thus, rings, chains, etc., which have the signs of the zodiac on them should not be worn, even if one does not believe in them. They are part and parcel of a fabricated system which propagates kufr and should be done away with entirely. No believing Muslim should attempt to guess his sign. Nor should he or she read horoscope columns in newspaper or listen to them.

And, any Muslim who allows astrological predictions to determine his actions, should seek Allaah's forgiveness and renew his Islaam.

Because of some personal circumstances we moved to Pakistan, where a lot of things are different, such as the time of prayer, etc. I want to ask you: I am keen to fast on the day of ‘Arafah, but the Hijri date in Pakistan is different from the date in Saudi: when the date in Pakistan is the 8th of the month, it is the 9th in Saudi. Should I fast on the 8th – which is the 9th in Saudi – or should I fast according to the date in Pakistan?.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: what if the day of ‘Arafah is different because of the moon being sighted at different times in different countries? Should we fast according to the moon sighting in the country where we are or according to the moon sighting in al-Haramayn (the two Holy Sanctuaries)?

He replied: This is based on a difference of opinion among the scholars: Is there only one moon sighting for the whole world or does it vary according to when the moon rises in different places?

The correct view is that it varies according to when the moon rises in different places. For example, if the moon is sighted in Makkah, and today is the ninth, and it is sighted elsewhere one day before Makkah, and the day of ‘Arafah in Makkah is the tenth for them, it is not permissible for them to fast on this day because it is Eid. Similarly if it so happens that they sight the moon after Makkah, and the 9th in Makkah is the 8th for them, then they should fast the day that is the 9th for them, which is the 10th in Makkah. This is the correct view, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When you see it (the new moon) fast and when you see it break your fast.” Those who did not see the moon in their own location have not seen it. Just as people are unanimously agreed that the times for dawn and sunset vary according to their own location, so too the months are also worked out by location, just like the daily timings.

And he (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about some people who worked in the Saudi embassy in a foreign country, who said that they were having a problem concerning the fast of Ramadaan and the fast on the day of ‘Arafah. The brothers there had split into three groups:
One group said: we will fast with Saudi and break the fast with Saudi.

Another group said: we will fast with the country where we are living and break the fast with them.
The last group said: we will fast Ramadaan with the country where we are living, but we will fast the day of ‘Arafah with Saudi.

They asked the Shaykh to provide them with a detailed answer concerning the Ramadaan fast and fasting the day of ‘Arafah, whilst noting that for the past five years, in the country where they were living neither Ramadaan nor the day of ‘Arafah had been observed on the same days as in Saudi; their Ramadaan started one or two days after it had been announced in Saudi, and sometimes three days after.

He replied:
In the name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The scholars (may Allaah have mercy on them) differed concerning the issue when the moon is sighted in one part of the Muslim world and not in another: do all the Muslims have to act on the basis of that, or only those who sighted it and the people who live in the same region, or only those who sighted it and the people who live under the same government? There are many different points of view.

The most correct view is that the matter should be referred to those who have knowledge of it. If the moon rises at the same point for two countries they become like one country, so if it is sighted in one of them that ruling applies to the other. But if the rising points differ, then each country has its own ruling. This is the view favoured by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him); this is the apparent meaning of the texts of the Qur’aan and Sunnah and what is implied by analogy.
In the Qur’aan it says (interpretation of the meaning):

“So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allaah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allaah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar: Allaah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him”
[al-Baqarah 2:185]

What is implied by this verse is that whoever does not see it is not obliged to fast.

In the Sunnah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When you see it (the new moon) then fast, and when you see it, break your fast.” What is implied by this hadeeth is that if we did not see it we are not obliged to fast or to break the fast.

With regard to analogy, the times for starting and ending the fast each day should be worked out in each country on its own, according to the local times of sunrise and sunset. This is a point on which there is scholarly consensus. So you see the people in east Asia starting their fast before the people of west Asia, and breaking their fast before them, because dawn breaks for the former before the latter, and the sun sets for the former before the latter.

Once this is established with regard to the times for starting and ending the daily fast, it also applies to the start and end of the monthly fast. There is no difference between them.

But if many regions come under the same government, and the ruler gives the command for the fast to start or end, then his command must be followed, because this is a matter of scholarly dispute but the command of the ruler dispels that dispute.

Based on the above, you should fast and break your fast along with the people of the country where you are living, whether that is in accordance with your country of origin or not. Similarly on the day of ‘Arafah you should follow the country where you are living.

A woman says: I live in the Kingdom (of Saudi Arabia) because I work here. I went for Hajj last year, and there were with me two of my female colleagues, but there was no mahram with us. What is the ruling concerning that?

Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: This action – Hajj without a mahram – is haraam because of the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, when he was delivering a sermon, “No woman should travel except with a mahram.” A man stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, my wife has set out for Hajj, and I have signed up for such-and-such a military campaign.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Go and do Hajj with your wife.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3006; Muslim, 1341.

So it is not permissible for a woman to travel without a mahram. A mahram is a man whom she is forever forbidden to marry because of blood ties or for a permissible reason. This is also subject to the condition that he be an adult of sound mind. A minor child cannot be a mahram, and neither can one who is not of sound mind. The reason for a mahram’s presence being required is so that he can look after her and protect her, so that she will not be bothered by those who do not fear Allaah and do not show mercy to the slaves of Allaah.

It makes no difference whether there are other women with her or not, or whether she is safe or not. Even if she goes with women from her own family and she is extremely safe, it is not permissible for her to travel without a mahram, because when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded that man to go and perform Hajj with his wife, he did not ask whether there were other women with her or not, or whether she was safe or not. The fact that he did not ask about that indicates that it makes no difference. This is the correct view.

Some people nowadays take the matter lightly and allow women travelling alone in a plane without a mahram. This undoubtedly goes against the clear meaning of the texts. Travel by plane is like any other kind of travel and still involves danger.

If the mahram of a woman travelling by plane takes her to the airport, as soon as she reaches the departure hall, he has to leave her there, then she is on her own without a mahram. The plane may leave on time or it may be late. It may leave on time but then have to come back for some reason, or it may land in another airport which is not the one she was heading for, and so on. It may land in the airport she is heading for after the expected time for some reason. If it happens that it lands on time, the mahram who is supposed to meet her may be late for some reason, either because he overslept or because of traffic congestion, or because his car broke down, or for some other reason. And even if he is there on time and meets the woman, there may have been a man sitting next to her on the plane who would deceive her and may like her and she likes him.

The point is that women should fear Allaah and not travel for Hajj or for any other reason except with a mahram who is an adult of sound mind. And Allaah is the One Whose help we seek.

When the truth is revealed to you and you stand face to face with it, how long can you refuse to accept it? How long would you run away denying it?

There comes a point in your life when you have to break free from all the chains that hold you back from answering the True Call.

It is a moment where nothing else seems significant and equivalent to the call of the Almighty God and His path of freedom, bliss and satisfaction.

All the lies with which you have been living with start fading and your beliefs as a disbeliever fall like a pack of cards. And what you witness is an Eureka moment, a moment when you realize the truth, when you realize the beauty of Islam.

Then you take no time to accept it. You just have to take a bold step lest fearing the societal pressure and disagreement. For you should always fight for the Truth and stand firm on to it, no matter be it against your own kin.

I remember the day when I stood in front of the mirror in my room, looking vaguely, trying to search for something but failing to find an answer. In retrospect, I was never an atheist,

I always believed that God existed and being a Hindu it existed for me in thousand forms: from a stone to a tree, from a tree to a river, from a river to a well (funny but true). All were objects of worship for me as I was told by my family and other traditions.

I took pride in being a polytheist, considering that all objects made by God are worth worshipping and that there exists a part of God in them, in every single being; so all are worthy of worship. It could be a cow, a tree, a river (as I said also a well), idols and even human beings themselves.

I detested Islam for being so rigid and stubborn on this. I found the Muslims static, living in the past, while the world is moving far ahead of them. For me all their beliefs were unreasonable (maybe because I never looked for reason), impractical, cruel and outdated.

Probably, it was not my fault; I was made to look at them this way. It was a pre-conceived notion, which I inherited from this society which has often kept a negative image of Islam in majority of its opinion.

My first encounter with Islam was in high school where the majority of my classmates were Muslims and during free classes we used to have discussions on Islam (largely because of the anti-Islam propaganda by the Hindu Organizations post 9/11 and the Gujarat riots).

During these talks they tried to clear various misconceptions that I carried regarding monotheism, rights of women, their status, and other popular myths which have become clichéd more or less.

Yet, it was not convincing for me, I still kept those beliefs and my pride in being polytheist. Though I was not anymore an anti-Muslim, I was moved by the sufferings of the people who were one of us, simply dying because they practiced a different faith. I became more secular in my outlook.

I give the major credit of becoming a monotheist to Arya Samaj, a Hindu organization that believes that Hinduism preaches monotheism and not rituals and idol worshiping. After coming under its influence I stopped worshiping idols, performing any sort of rituals and going to temples.

These are what I call the steps I was taking to finally reach my destination that is Islam. Though Arya Samaj has its own flaws, I again found myself in the same cob-web; where rituals and fire worshiping became an integral part.

Reading Vedas, Manu Smiriti, and other scriptures only confused me. It was all philosophical, nothing material which could help you precisely find an answer for your daily life queries.

While in college studying Law, it was the first time when the clarity of Islam dawned over me. It was nothing but a small course of Family Law - Hindu Law and Islamic Law regarding marriages, divorce, succession, etc.

While Hindu law was riddled with various technicalities, confusions, differences of opinions and lack of stability, Islamic law on the other hand was clear, precise and certain.

My opinion here changed overnight. What I used to find static, appeared stable to me. This made me curious to read more in this regard; I spent hours online talking to friends who used to tell me about Islam.

I read various links and participated in forum discussions. My outlook towards Islam started changing which was reflected when I spoke with my friends or discussed things with them.

Of course this change was not appreciated by them, they warned me against the so-called ‘brain washers’ whose sole aim is to divert Hindus to Islam.

All this used to bother me, I felt scared of their disagreement. I felt as though I were cheating my friends and family by doing what they sternly disagreed of.

But, as I said earlier, how long can you run away from the truth? You cannot live with a lie and accepting the truth needs courage. And as the Holy Quran says:

“Believers, uphold justice. Always bear true witness, even if it be against yourself, your parents, or your relatives-and regardless of whether the person against whom you are speaking is rich or poor. God is close to people regardless of their material circumstances. Do not be led by emotion, as this may cause you to swerve from the truth. If you distort your testimony, or refuse to testify, remember that God is aware of all your actions.” (Quran 4:135)

And that day all the fears just drifted away, because if I wouldn’t have converted then I guess I would never had. I would have stayed stuck in the complexities of of the material world where false emotions stop us from doing the right thing.

Though my friends and family members are yet unaware of it, but certainly I will tell them sooner or later and I hope Insha’Allah (God-willing) that they will respect my decision.

Alhamdullilah, I’m a Muslim today, trying to learn more and more about the Holy Quran and the guidelines of Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him. Insha’Allah, I will walk on his path in a better way.

With the help of a few friends and an organization, I’ve learned to pray; I’m praying 5 times daily alhamdulillah. I pray to God to give me more strength so that I could always stand firm on my decision.

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam.

It has been mentioned, along with daily Prayers (Salaat / Namaz), over seventy times in the Quran.

Allahs word commanding ".....and establish regular Salaat and GIVE regular Zakat....." are referred to in many parts of the Quran.

From this we can conclude that after Salaat, Zakat is the most important act in Islam.

Just as Salaat is the most important act of worship which has to be performed bodily, so is Zakat the main act of worship which has to be performed monetarily. Those who fulfill this duty have been promised abundant reward in this world and hereafter.

Whoever evades Zakat has been sternly warned in the Quran and Hadith of the consequences.

Linguistically, ZAKAT has two meanings: purification and growth. Technically, it means to purify ones possession of wealth by distributing a prescribed amount to the poor, the indigent, the slaves or captives, and the wayfarer.

There are many major benefits of giving Zakat:

It reminds Muslims of the fact that whatever wealth they may possess is due to the blessings of Allah and as such it is to be spent according to the His commands.

Zakat functions as a social security for all. Those who have enough money today pay for what they have. If they need money tomorrow they will get what is necessary to help them live decently.

Zakat payer pays his dues to Allah as an act of worship, a token of submission and an acknowledgment of gratitude. The receiver of Zakat receives it as a grant from Allah out of His bounty, a favor for which he is thankful to Allah.

Economically, Zakat is the best check against hoarding. Those who do not invest their wealth but prefer to save or hoard it would see their wealth dwindling year after year at the rate of the payable Zakat. This helps increase production and stimulates supply because it is a redistribution of income that enhances the demand by putting more real purchasing power in the hands of poor.

Zakat is obligatory upon a person if :

He or she is an adult, sane, free and Muslim.

He/she must possess wealth in excess of specified minimum (Nisaab) excluding his or her personal needs (clothing, household furniture, utensils, cars etc. are termed article of personal needs).

It should be possessed for a complete lunar year.

It should be of productive nature from which one can derive profit or benefit such as merchandise for business, gold, silver, livestock etc.

The amount of wealth which makes one liable for Zakat is called Nisaab.

Gold 87.48 Gram 7.50Tolas 1350Grains 2.8125Troy Oz.

Silver 612.36Gram 52.50Tolas 9450Grains and 19.6875 Troy Oz.

Nisaab of cash, stock or bonds, other cash assets is the equivalent amount of Gold or Silver. Nisaab is calculated by adding up the cash value of all the assets such as gold, silver, currency etc. and if it is equal TO or in excess of the minimum Nisaab as specified in the above table, the Zakat is due at the rate of 2.5%.

The payment of Zakat is compulsory on the excess wealth or effects which is equal to or exceeds the value of Nisaab, and which is possessed for a full Islamic year. If such wealth decreases during the course of the year and increases again to the value of Nisaab before the end of the year, the Zakat then must be calculated on the full amount that is possessed at the end of the year.

TYPES OF WEALTH ON WHICH ZAKAT IS IMPOSED:

Gold and silver, in any form.

Cash, bank notes, stocks, bonds etc.

Merchandise for business, equal to the value of Nisaab.

Live stock.

On income derived from rental business.

DISTRIBUTION OF ZAKAT:

Zakat should be given as soon as possible after it becomes due.

All of the Zakat can be given to one person or to several persons.

A poor man cannot be paid for his work from Zakat nor can Zakat be given in payment of services, except to the people appointed by the Islamic government to collect Zakat.

Zakat will only be valid if the recipient is made the owner of that amount. If, for example, a few needy persons are fed a meal from Zakat money, then Zakat will not be fulfilled as they were not made owners of the food.

Zakat cannot be given for the construction of Masjid, Madrasah, Hospital, a well, a bridge or any other public amenity.

Zakat can be paid in kind from the same merchandise on which it is due, or alternatively, it could be paid in cash.

TYPES OF WEALTH ON WHICH ZAKAT IS NOT IMPOSED:

On any metals other than gold or silver.

Fixtures and fittings of a shop, car, trucks or any delivery vehicle etc., which is used in running business.

Diamonds, pearls, other precious or semi precious stones which are for personal use.

There is no Zakat on personal residence, household furniture, pots and pan, personal clothing, whether they are in use or not.

There is no Zakat on a person whose liabilities exceed or equal his assets. (Home Mortgage in this country is not to be counted as personal liability for the Zakat purpose).

RECIPIENTS OF ZAKAT:

The recipients of Zakat, according to Quran are as follows:"Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed to administer (the funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to truth); for those in bondage and in debt; and for the wayfarer: (Thus is it) ordained by Allah, and Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom." (Quran 9:60)

FUQARA: people who are poor and who possess more than their basic needs but do not possess wealth equal to Nisaab.

MASAKEEN: people who are destitute and extremely needy to the extent they are forced to beg for their daily food rations.

AL-AMILEEN: people appointed by an Islamic Government to collect Zakat.

MU-ALLAFATUL-QULUB: persons who have recently accepted Islam and are in need of basic necessities who would benefit from encouragement by Muslims which would help strengthen their faith.

AR-RIQAAB: slaves who are permitted to work for remuneration and have an agreement from their masters to purchase their freedom on payment of fixed amounts.

AL-GHAARIMEEN: persons who have a debt and do not possess any other wealth or goods with which they could repay that which they owe. It is conditional that this debt was not created for any un-Islamic purpose.

FI-SABILILLAH: persons who have to carry out an obligatory deed which has become obligatory on them and subsequently (due to loss of wealth) are unable to complete that obligation.

IBN-US-SABEEL: persons who are travelers and during the course of their journey do not possess basic necessities, though they are well to do at home. They could be given Zakat in order to fulfill travel needs to return home.

PERSONS WHO CANNOT BE GIVEN ZAKAT:

Zakat cannot be given to the descendants of Muhammad (P.B.U.H);

Zakat cannot be given to parents and grandparents. In the same manner one's children and grandchildren cannot be given Zakat. A husband and wife cannot give Zakat to each other.

VIRTUES OF ZAKAT: Allah says in the Quran: "The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn. It grows seven ears and each ear has hundred grains. Allah increases manifold to whom He pleases." (Quran 2:261)

It is stated in the Hadith that by giving Zakat the following benefits are derived:

Gain the pleasure of Allah.

Increase in wealth and protection from losses.

Allahs forgiveness and blessings.

Protection from the wrath of Allah and from a bad death.

A shelter on the Day of Judgment;

Security from seventy misfortunes.

THE PUNISHMENT FOR NOT GIVING ZAKAT:

Allah says in the Quran: "And there are those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah, announce to them a most grievous penalty (when) on the Day of Judgment heat will be produced out of that wealth in the fire of Hell. Then with it they will be branded on their forehead and their flanks and backs. (It will be said to them) This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves, taste then the treasure that you have been hoarding." (Al-Quran 9:34-35)

Why are the Muslims not united in their fasting even though there is only one new moon for Ramadaan? In the past there was the excuse of there being no media or means of communication

Firstly:

The most likely reason for the differences in the start of the fast from one country to another is the difference in sighting the new moon. Such differences are well known and it makes sense that there are such differences.

Based on this, it is not possible to expect all the Muslims to start fasting at the same time, because this would mean that some of them were starting to fast before the new moon had been sighted and even before it had appeared.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about those who call for the ummah to be united in fasting and for the moon sighting to be based on its sighting in Makkah. He said:

This is impossible from an astronomical point of view, because the sighting of the new moon, as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said, differs, according to the scientists who are well-versed in this field. Because it differs, then each country should have its own ruling, according to the reports and according to science.

The evidence from reports is the verse in which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

If it so happens that people in a remote region of the world do not see the new moon whereas the people of Makkah do see it, then how can the words of this verse apply to those who have not seen the new moon? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it.” (Agreed upon). So if the people of Makkah, for example, see it, then how can we expect the people of Pakistan and countries further east to start fasting, when we know that that the new moon has not yet appeared in their region, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) connected the start of fasting to the sighting of the moon?

The scientific evidence is the correct analogy which we cannot contradict. We know that dawn appears in eastern regions of the earth before it appears in western regions, so if dawn has appeared in eastern regions, do we have to stop eating even though it is still night where we are? The answer is no. If the sun has set in eastern regions but it is still day where we are, is it permissible for us to break our fast? The answer is no. And the new moon is exactly like the sun, except that the timing of the new moon is monthly and the timing of the sun is daily. The One Who said (interpretation of the meaning):

“and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your Sawm (fast) till the nightfall”

[al-Baqarah 2:187] is also the One Who said (interpretation of the meaning):

“So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

So the evidence of both the texts and science indicates that we should establish a separate ruling for each place when it comes to starting and ending the fast, and this should be connected to the physical sign which Allaah has described in His Book and which His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) established in his Sunnah, namely the sighting of the moon and the sighting of the sun or dawn.

And he said, explaining this analogy and supporting the argument of those who say that there should be different moon sightings:

They say that the monthly timings should be like the daily sightings. Just as different countries vary in the start and end of the fast each day, so too they must differ in the start and end of the month-long fast. The difference in daily timings is well known according to Muslim consensus; those who are in the east start fasting before those who are in the west, and they also break the fast first.

If we accept the differences in sighting with regard to daily timings, then we should also accept it with regard to the month.

No one can say that the verse “and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your Sawm (fast) till the nightfall” and the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) “When the night has come from here and the day has departed from here and the sun has set, then the faster may break his fast” are general in meaning and apply to all the Muslims in every region.

The same applies to the verse “So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month” and the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) “When you see it fast and when you see it stop fasting.”

As you see, this opinion is very strong, and the analogy is sound, the analogy between the monthly timing and the daily timing.

The Council of Senior Scholars issued an important statement on this topic, the text of which is as follows:

Firstly: The difference in moon sighting is something which is well known, and there is no difference among the scholars concerning this. Rather the difference of scholarly opinion has to do with whether the difference in moon sighting matters or not.

Secondly: The issue of whether the difference in moon sighting matters or not is a theoretical matter in which there is room for ijtihaad. Even people of great knowledge and piety differed concerning this matter. This is a type of difference which is acceptable, where the one who makes ijtihaad and gets it right will have two rewards, one for his ijtihaad and the other for getting it right, and the one who gets it wrong will be rewarded for his ijtihaad.

The scholars differed concerning this matter and there are two points of view. One is that the difference in moon sighting matters and the other is that it does not matter. Each group quotes evidence from the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and sometimes they quote the same text, such as when they both quote the verse (interpretation of the meaning):

“They ask you (O Muhammad) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage”

[al-Baqarah 2:189]

and the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it.”

That is because of different understandings of the texts, and different ways in which each group derives evidence from them.

Based on the considerations that the Council has seen and examined, and based on the fact that the difference of opinion on this matter does not have any effect that may lead to undesirable consequences, since this religion appeared fourteen centuries ago and we do not know of any period during which the ummah was united in moon sighting, the members of the Council of Senior Scholars think that matters should be left as they are and that this subject should not be stirred up. Each Islamic state should have the right to choose whichever opinion it wishes, based on the suggestions of its own scholars, because each view has its evidence and proofs.

Thirdly: The Council has studied the issue of proving the new moon by means of calculation, and what has been narrated in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and they have studied the comments of the scholars on this matter. They have decided unanimously that astronomical calculations carry no weight in determining the new moon with regard to Islamic matters, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not fast until you see it, and do not stop fasting until you see it.” And because of other evidence to that effect.

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

The follow are conditions which must be fulfilled before performing salah. If any of them is missing, the Salah is then considered invalid.

1. Taharah (Cleanliness)

Taharah is the name used to refer to the Islamic form of cleanliness, which has its own particular set of requirements.

Hammam b. Munabbih, who is the brother of Wahb b. Munabbih, said: This is what has been transmitted to us by Abu Huraira from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and then narrated a hadith out of them and observed that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The prayer of none amongst you would be accepted in a state of impurity till he performs ablution. [Sahih Muslim, Book 002, Number 0435]

The conditions of Taharah must be established in three areas for this prerequisite to be considered fulfilled:

1.1 Taharah of the Body

The body has to be cleaned of all traces of faeces and urine by using toilet paper or water, or preferably both, after using the toilet. One should then be in a state of purity obtained through one of the following means: wudu, ghusl, or tayammum. This state of purity for males remains intact unless broken by one of the following seven factors: defecation, urination, breaking wind, easting camelâ€™s meat, deep sleep in the lying position, ejaculation of semen or sexual intercourse [In the case if women, menses, post-childbirth bleeding and orgasms instead of ejaculation of semen.] the first five of these necessitate only wudu, but a ghusl can take its place while the last two necessitate a ghusl, and wudu cannot take its place. Tayammum takes the place of either wudu or ghusl if water is absent, and must be renewed for each fard (compulsory) Salah performed at its proper time.

The evidences of the above:-

1.1a Defecation, Urination, & Passing wind

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The prayer of a person who does ,Hadath (passes, urine, stool or wind) is not accepted till he performs (repeats) the ablution." A person from Hadaramout asked Abu Huraira, "What is 'Hadath'?" Abu Huraira replied, " 'Hadath' means the passing of wind from the anus." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 137]

1.1b (Deep) Sleep

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "If anyone of you performs ablution he should put water in his nose and then blow it out and whoever cleans his private parts with stones should do so with odd numbers. And whoever wakes up from his sleep should wash his hands before putting them in the water for ablution, because nobody knows where his hands were during sleep." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 163]

1.1c Sexual intercourse

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "When a man sits in between the four parts of a woman and did the sexual intercourse with her, bath becomes compulsory." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 5, Number 290]

1.1d Camels meat

The hadeeth of Jaabir: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked, Should I do wudu after eating camel meat? He said, Yes The person said: Should I do wudu after eating mutton? He said, If you wish. (Narrated by Muslim, 360)

1.1e Menses

Narrated Aisha: Fatima bint Abi Hubaish used to have bleeding in between the periods, so she asked the Prophet about it . He replied, "The bleeding is from a blood vessel and not the menses. So give up the prayers when the (real) menses begin and when it has finished, take a bath and start praying." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 317]

Narrated Aisha: A woman asked the Prophet about the bath which is take after finishing from the menses. The Prophet told her what to do and said, "Purify yourself with a piece of cloth scented with musk." The woman asked, "How shall I purify myself with it" He said, "Subhan Allah! Purify yourself (with it)." I pulled her to myself and said, "Rub the place soiled with blood with it." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 311]

1.1f Post-Childbirth Bleeding

Al-Tirmidhi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: â€œThe scholars among the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), Taabieen and those who came after them are agreed that the woman who is bleeding after childbirth must refrain from praying for forty days, unless she sees the tuhr (clear discharge indicating that the nifaas is over) before that, in which case she should do ghusl and pray.

1.1g Maniy

If maniy (fluid emitted at the point of climax) comes out of a woman without intercourse, she has to do ghusl. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded women to do ghusl if they notice water (fluid), as was reported by Malik in al-Muwattaâ€™ (1/51), and by al-Bukhari (282) and al-Nasaâ€™i (1/114) from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: Umm Sulaim, the wife of Abu Talhah, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, â€œO Messenger of Allah, Allah is not too shy to tell the truth. Does a woman have to do ghusl if she has an (erotic) dream? He said, Yes, if she sees water (fluid). In this hadeeth, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded women to do ghusl if they see water, i.e., maniy

1.2 Taharah of Clothes

Any najasah (impurity) which falls on clothes or undergarments should be washed away before Salah can be performed with them on. The najasah according to Islamic Law, which could fall on clothes are: faeces, urine, blood, and semen. If there us some najasah on the bottom of one's shoes, it would be sufficient to scrape it off for them to be considered clean enough to make Salah in.

Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri has said: "The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) prayed with us one day. Whilst he was engaged in the prayer he took off his shoes and placed them on his left. When the people saw this, they took off their shoes. When he finished his prayer he said, Why did you take your shoes off? They said, 'We saw you taking your shoes off, so we took our shoes off.' He said, Verily Jibreel came to me and informed me that there was dirt - or he said: something harmful - (in another narration: filth) on my shoes, so I took them off. Therefore, when one of you goes to the mosque, he should look at his shoes: if he sees in them dirt - or he said: something harmful - (in another narration: filth) he should wipe them and pray in them. [Abu Daawood, Ibn Khuzaimah & Haakim, who declared it saheeh and Dhahabi and Nawawi agreed. The first one is given in Irwaa' (284)]

1.3 Taharah of the Place

The area on which one intends to perform salah should be free from najasah as far as can be determined. An area on which people have walked on is not automatically considered impure unless the presence of one or more najasahs is observed (by sight of smell).

2. Satr (Covering)

The awrah (islamically defined as private parts) of both the male and female should be properly covered prior to performing salah. The awrah of the male is the part of the body between the navel and the knee, not including the navel or the knee [refer to Sahih Bukhari, Volume. 1, chapter 12]. For Salah, however, the shoulders should also be covered if sufficient cloth is available.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "None of you should offer prayer in a single garment that does not cover the shoulders." [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 8, Number 355]

Prayer in pants which hud and expose the shape of the private parts is also not acceptable unless a loose shirt covering the area is worn.

Narrated Buraydah ibn al-Hasib: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) prohibited us to pray in a single garment without crossing both its ends (over the shoulders), and he also prohibited us to pray in pants without wear a cloak (over it).[Sahih Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 1, p. 126, hadith number 594, authenticated by al-Albaani]

It should also be noted that males are not allowed to wear garments which hang below their ankles, and that prayer in such garments may not be accepted.

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: The way for a believer to wear a lower garment is to have it halfway up his shins and he is guilty of any sin if it comes half way between that and his ankles. But what hangs below the ankles is in Hell [Sahih Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 2, p. 771, hadith number 3449, authenticated by al-Albaani]

For women, the awrah includes all of her body except her face and hands up to the wrists.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: Asma, daughter of AbuBakr, entered upon the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) wearing thin clothes. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) turned his attention from her. He said: "O Asma', when a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it is not fitting that any part of her should be seen except this," and he pointed to her face and hands. [Sahih Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 2, p. 774, hadith number 3458, authenticated by al-Albaani]

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has reached puberty unless she wears a khimar (headscarf covering the hair, ears neck and bosom). [Sahih Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 1, p. 126, hadith number 596, authenticated by al-Albaani]

The Female awrah also includes the tops of her feet. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) told his companions to raise their lower garments well above their ankles, his wife, Umm Salamah asked, What about woman,O Messenger of Allah?, He replied, Let her lower it a palms width. Umm Salamah inquired, But her feet will be exposed. He responded saying, forearm's length, then, but no more. [Sahih Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 2, p. 776, hadith number 3467, authenticated by al-Albaani]

3. Dukhul al â€“ Waqt (Entrance of the time)

Every Fard (compulsory) prayer has a time period within which it must be performed under normal circumstances in order for the salah to be considered valid. Therefore, the beginning time for the intended salah has to have come before the salah may be performed. Under certain conditions, certain salahs may be performed before or after their time periods, along with the preceding or following salah. But under normal circumstances, no salah is allowed prior to its time period and one performed after its time periods is considered Qada (the making up for a missed salah).

The evidences of the above:-

3.1 Salah on time

So woe unto those performers of Salat (prayers) (hypocrites), Who delay their Salat (prayer) from their stated fixed times, (Al-Ma'un 107: 4 - 5)

3.2 Salah before/after the prescribed time

In certain situations, you can shorten or combine salah. And this may lead to you not actually praying the prescribed time, but the salah is still valid. Here are two examples of this:-

And when you (Muslims) travel in the land, there is no sin on you if you shorten your SalÃ¢t (prayer) if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you, verily, the disbelievers are ever unto you open enemies. (An-Nisa 4:101)

Anas reported: When the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) intended to combine two prayers on a journey, he delayed the noon prayer till came the early time of the afternoon prayer, and then combined the two. [Sahih Muslim, Book 004, Number 1513]

4. Istiqbal al â€“ Qiblah (Facing the Kabah)

When salah is to be performed, under normal conditions, one should determine the general direction of the Kaâ€™bah and face it.

Abu Hurayrah related that Allaha's Messenger said: What is between the east and the west is Qiblah (direction of prayer). [Sahih Sunan at â€“ Trimidhi, Vol. 1, p. 109, hadith nos. 282 â€“ 283, authenticated by al-Albaani

Ibn â€˜Umar was also reported to have said, If you put the West on your right and East on your left, whatever is between them is qiblah, whenever you seek to face it. These statements were made in Madinah, to the north of Makkah, indicating that as long as one faced southwards, it was sufficient. Consequently, once a reasonable determination has been made and the direction of the qiblah has been set in a masjid, there is no need to constantly change the angle of prayer each time a more accurate compass is introduced. However, when one is in Makkah and can see the Kaâ€™bah, it must be faced directly, otherwise, one would then be deliberately praying in a direction other that the one ordained by Allah.

5. Niyyah (Intention)

Before salah is performed, the intention to do so should be firmly placed in the mind in order to avoid distraction which could lead to oneâ€™s mind being elsewhere while oneâ€™s body goes through the motions of prayer. If one prayer salah without the intention of pleasing Allah, He will not accept it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have said,

Deeds are according to their intentions and each man will get what he intends. [Sahih Bukhari, vol. 1, p. 203, hadith no. 789]

A person whose mind wanders during the salah will have his reward reduced according to the shortcoming in his attentiveness. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said:-

A person finishes his salah, and only a tenth of it is recorded for him, or a ninth, or an eight, a seventh, a sixth, a fifth, a fourth, a third or a half. [Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol. 1, p. 203, Hadith number 789; Reported by Imaam Ahmad; Saheeh al-Jaamiâ, 1626]

The expression of one's intention aloud and according to the certain formulas is not necessary and is, in fact, an innovation in religion (bidâ€™ah). There are no recorded authentic statements of intention, nor was it the practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) or his companions to audibly express their intentions for salah.

Hijab And Clothing for Men

People usually only discuss Hijab in the context of women. However in the Holy Quran, Allah (swt) first mentions Hijab for men before Hijab for the women.

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: That will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do”

(Surah Noor, chapter 24, verse 30)

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

1: Men are also required to cover their body parts that reveal body

For men, its compulsory for them to cover their body from navel to knees.

This has been confirmed in the narration of Abu Said al-Khudri who said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “A mans awrah is between his navel and his knees.”

Messenger of Allah (saw) said to Jabir, “Cover your thighs, for the thigh is the awrah.”

The Messenger of Allah (saw) also said to Hudhayfah when he had his thigh uncovered, “Do not reveal your thigh nor look at anybody elses thigh, whether he is alive or dead.”

And he said to Mumar when he passed him by with both his (Mumar’s) thighs uncovered, “O Mumar! Cover your thighs; the thigh is awrah.”

2: Mens are required to lower their gaze strictly and not look up to women in public places intentionally.

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: That will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do”

(Surah Noor, chapter # 24, verse #30)

3: Gold and Pure Silk are Haram for Men

A man by the ruling of Allah is not allowed to wear either silk or gold.

Islam has forbidden men from wearing silk and gold but has allowed it for women, as well as for men who have a skin problem and need to wear silk.

Ahmed, al-Tirmidhi and al-Nisai reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Gold and silk are allowed for the women of my Ummah and forbidden for the men.” ‘

Umar ibn al-Khattab reported, “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, ‘Do not wear silk, for one who wears it in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.

Hadith - Sahih Al-Bukhari 7.693, Narrated Uqba bin Amir ....A silken Farruj was presented to Allahs Apostle and he put it on and offered the prayer in it. When he finished the prayer, he took it off violently as if he disliked it and said,"This (garment) does not befit those who fear Allah!"

”Men are only allowed to wear silk if it does not exceed three or four fingers in lying next to each other in width.

Ahmed, Abu Dawud, al-Nisai, al-Tirmidhi and Muslim have reported on Umars authority that the Messenger of Allah (saw) had forbidden men from wearing silk except to the extent of two middle and index fingers joined together, as demonstrated by the Messenger of Allah (saw).

In another narration, he (saw) forbade silk except to the extent of two, three or four fingers.

Islam has allowed the wearing of silk for sick male Muslims without any limit to the width.

Al-Nisai, Abu Dawud, al-Bukhari, Ahmed and Ibn Majah reported on the authority of Anas that the Messenger of Allah (saw) permitted Abd al-Rahman ibn Auf and al-Zubayr to wear silk because they suffered from the problem of skin irritation. Some scholars have used silk as analogous to the wearing of gold for medical purposes.

As for the evidence regarding the forbidding of the wearing of gold for Muslim males, al-Tirmidhi reported on the authority of Imran ibn Hassin, as did Muslim on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (saw) forbade them from wearing gold rings

All reported that the Prophet (peace be on him) took some silk in his right hand and some gold in his left, declaring, "These two are haram for the males among my followers."(Reported by Ahmad, Abu Daoud, al-Nisai, Ibn Hayyan, and lbn Majah, who reports the additional phrase, "but halal for the females.") '

On another occasion, referring to a silken garment, he said, "This is the dress of a man who has no character.''(Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

The Prophet (peace be on him) once saw a gold ring on a mans hand. He immediately took it from him and threw it down saying, Does a person pick up a piece of burning coal and hold it in his hand?

After the Prophet (peace be on him) had left the place, someone asked the man, Why do you not pick it up and benefit from it?

He replied, No, by Allah! I shall not pick it up after the Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) has thrown it away.

4:Patterns/Marks In the Clothing: Simple Clothing Preferred

Hadith - Sunan of Abu Dawood, #4041, Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin, r.a.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) once prayed wearing a garment having marks. He looked at its marks. When he saluted, he said: Take this garment of mine to Abu Jahm, for it turned my attention just now in my prayer, and bring a simple garment without marks.

Hadith - Muwatta 3.72 - Looking in the Prayer at What Distracts You From It
Yahya related to me from Malik from AIqama ibn Abi AIqama from his mother that Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfa gave the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a fine striped garment from Syria and he did the prayer in it. When he had finished he said, Give this garment back to Abu Jahm. I looked at its stripes in the prayer and they almost distracted me.' "

5: The clothes should be loose enough (not tight) that they do not disclose the figure.

I asked Jabir bin Abdullah about praying in a single garment. He said, "I traveled with the Prophet during some of his journeys, and I came to him at night for some purpose and I found him praying. At that time, I was wearing a single garment with which I covered my shoulders and prayed by his side. When he finished the prayer, he asked, O Jabir! What has brought you here?' I told him what I wanted. When I finished, he asked, O Jabir! What is this garment which I have seen and with which you covered your shoulders?' I replied, It is a (tight) garment.

He said, If the garment is large enough, wrap it round the body (covering the shoulders) and if it is tight (too short) then use it as an Izar (tie it around your waist only. -

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 1.357, Narrated Said bin Al Harith

6: The clothes should not be see-through such that one can see through them.

7: The clothes should not be fashionable so that it will attract the opposite sex.

In this criteria avoid wearing bright colors like red, orange and so on.

The clothes should not look like that of the opposite sex.

Al-Bukhari, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisai, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas that he said,“Allahs Messenger has cursed the women acting like men and the men acting like women.”

The Prophet (peace be on him) declared that a woman should not wear a mans clothing nor a man a woman's. He cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.

(Reported by al-Bukhari and others.)

Aspects of such imitation include the manner of speaking, walking, dressing, moving and so on.

8: The clothes should not give the impression that of the non-believer

(like wearing cross or other religious symbol)

Abu Dawud reported on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Whoever acts like a people becomes one of them.” This is related to anything linked to their creed or dress, such as the garment or hats of the priests, bishops, cardinals, nuns etc, or like Jewish garments or anything that distinguishes them from other people.

9 : Wearing White

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi 4623, Narrated Aisha, r.a.
Allahs Messenger (peace be upon him) was questioned about Waraqah and Khadijah said to him, "He believed in you, but died before you appeared as a prophet." Allahs Messenger (peace be upon him) then said, "I was shown him in a dream, wearing white clothes, and if he had been one of the inhabitants of Hell he would have been wearing different clothing." [Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it]

Narrated Abu Dharr, r.a. I came to the Prophet while he was wearing white clothes and sleeping.... -

10: Wearing Green
Hadith - Sahih Al-Bukhari 7.705, Narrated Aisha, r.a.
When Allah's Apostle died, he was covered with a Hibra Burd (green square decorated garment).

Hadith - Sunan of Abu Dawood, Narrated Abu Rimthah, r.a.
I went with my father to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and saw two green garments over him.

11: Wearing Plain Red NOT Allowed
It is permissible to wear red clothes if the red is combined with another colour; it is NOT permissible to wear plain red, because the Prophet (saws) forbade doing so.

The hadith which forbid wearing plain red

1. From al-Baraa ibn Aazib (may Allah be pleased with him): “The Prophet (saws) forbade us to use soft red mattresses and qasiy – garments with woven stripes of silk.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5390)

2. From Ibn Abbaas, who said: “I was forbidden (to wear) red garments and gold rings, and to recite Quran in rukoo’.”

(Narrated by al-Nasaai, no. 5171. Imam Albaani said: its isnaad is sahih. Saheeh Sunan al-Nasaai, 1068).

3. From Abd-Allaah ibn Amr ibn al-Aas (may Allaah be pleased with them both), who said: “A man passed by the Prophet SAWS wearing two red garments and greeted him with salaam, but he SAWS did not return the greeting.”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2731; Abu Dawood, no. 3574. Al-Tirmidhi said: this hadeeth is hasan ghareeb with this isnaad).

Hadith which may be understood to mean that it is permissible to wear red if it is mixed with another colour

1. From Hilaal ibn Aamir from his father, who said: “I saw the Messenger of Allaah SAWS in Mina, giving a khutbah sitting on his mule, wearing a red cloak, and Ali was in front of him, repeating what he said (in a loud voice, so that the people could hear).” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 3551; classed as sahih by al-Albaani – Sahih Sunan Abi Dawood, 767).

2. The hadeeth of al-Baraa ibn Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allah SAWS was of average build. I saw him in a red hullah, and I never saw anyone more handsome than him.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 5400; Muslim, 4308).

[Red Hullah is a suit of two Yemeni garments which are woven with red and black stripes, or red and green stripes. It is described as red because of the red stripes in it.]

3. From al-Baraa, who said: “I never saw anyone who has hair wearing a red hullah and looking more handsome than the Messenger of Allah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He had hair down to his shoulders, he was broad-shouldered and was neither short nor tall.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 1646. He said: in this chapter there is a report from Jaabir ibn Samurah and Abu Rimthah and Abu Juhayfah. This hadeeth is hasan saheeh…)

4. From al-Baraa who said: “The Messenger of Allaah SAWS had hair down to his earlobes. I saw him wearing a red hullah, and I have never seen anyone more handsome than him.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 4072; Ibn Maajah, no. 3599. Classed as sahih by Albaani – Saheeh Sunan Abi dawood, 768).

5. Al-Bayhaqi narrated in al-Sunan: “[The Prophet] SAWS used to wear a red cloak on Eid.”

This is the view of a number of scholars, such as al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar (Fath al-Baari Sharh ala Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 5400) and Ibn al-Qayyim (Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1-137). And Allah knows bestl.

Hadith - Bukhari 7.695 (Also 7.744) Narrated Ibn Abbas, r.a.
The Prophet (saaws) said, "Whoever cannot get an Izar, can wear trousers, and whoever cannot wear sandals can wear Khuffs."

12 : Garment Should Not Hang Past Ankles
Hadith - Al-Muwatta 48.12, Similar narration in Abu Dawood #4082
Yahya related to me from Malik from al Ala ibn Abd ar-Rahman that his father said, "I asked Abu Said al-Khudri about the lower garment. He said that he would inform me with knowledge and that he had heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'The lower garment of the mumin should reach to the middle of his calves. There is no harm in what is between that and the ankles. What is lower than that is in the Fire. What is lower than that is in the Fire. On the Day of Rising, Allah will not look at a person who trails his lower garment in arrogance.' "

Hadith - Sahih Al-Bukhari 7.678, Narrated Abu Huraira, r.a.
The Prophet (saaws) said, "The part of an Izar which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire."
Hadith - Sunan of Abu Dawood, Narrated AbuJurayy Jabir ibn Salim al-Hujaymi

The Prophet saaws said, "Have your lower garment halfway down your shin; if you cannot do it, have it up to the ankles. Beware of trailing the lower garment, for it is conceit and Allah does not like conceit."

13: Do Not wear images

Like humans, animals, or insects on your cloth

TEN THINGS WHICH NULLIFY ONES ISLAM

1. Associating partners with Allah (shirk).

"Truly, whosoever sets up partners with Allah, then Allah has forbidden the Garden for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers." (Surah Al-Maaida 5:72)

Calling upon the dead, asking their help, or offering them gifts or sacrifices are all forms of shirk.

2. Setting up intermediaries between oneself and Allah, making supplication to them, asking their intercession with Allah, and placing ones trust in them is unbelief (kufr).

3. Anyone who does not consider the polytheists (mushrikeen) to be unbelievers, or who has doubts concerning their unbelief, or considers their way to be correct, is himself/herself an unbeliever (kafir).

4. Anyone who believes any guidance to be more perfect, or a decision other than the Prophets decision to be better, is an unbeliever. This applies to those who prefer the rule of Evil (Taghout) to the Prophets rule.

Some examples of this are:

(a) To believe that systems and laws made by human beings are better than the Shariah of Islam;

for example,

That the Islamic system is not suitable for the twentieth century.

That Islam is the cause of the backwardness of the Muslims.

Or that al-Islam is a relationship between Allah and the Muslim. It should not interfere in other aspects of life.

(b) To say that enforcing the punishments prescribed Allah, such as cutting of the hand of the thief or the stoning of an adulterer, is not suitable for this day and age.

(c) To believe that it is permissible to give a rule from that which Allah did not reveal in Islamic transactions or matters of law, punishments or other affairs. Although one may not believe such things to be superior to the Shariah he in effect affirms such a stand by declaring a thing which Allah has totally prohibited, such as adultery, drinking alcohol or usury, to be permissible.

According to the consensus of the Muslims, one who declares such things to be permissible is an unbeliever (Kafir)

5. Anyone who hates any part of what the Messenger of Allah [saw] has declared to be lawful has nullified his Islam, even though he may act in accordance with it.

"This is because they hate what Allah has sent down, so he has made their deeds fruitless"

(Surah Muhammad 47:9)

6. Anyone who ridicules any aspect of the religion of the Messenger of Allah [saw], or any of its rewards or punishments, becomes an unbeliever.

"Say: Was it Allah, and His signs and His Messenger that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed."

(Surah At-Tawbah 9:65-66)

7. The practice of magic. Included in this, for example, is causing a rift between a husband and wife by turning his love for her into hatred, or tempting a person to do things he dislikes using black arts. One who engages in such a thing or is pleased with it is outside the fold of Islam.

" But neither of these two (angels, Harut and Marut) taught anyone (magic) till they had said, Indeed, we are a trial; then do not disbelieve.

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:102)

8. Supporting and aiding polytheists against the Muslims.

"Whoever among you who takes them as allies is surely one of them. Truly, Allah does not guide the wrongdoers."

(Surah Al-Maaida 5:51)

9. Anyone who believes that some people are permitted to deviate from the Shariah of Muhammad [saw] is an unbeliever.

"And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted of him, and in the hereafter he will be from among the losers."

(Surah Aal-Imraan 3:85)

10. To turn completely away from the religion of Allah neither learning its precepts nor acting upon it.

" And who does greater wrong than he who is reminded of the revelations of his Lord and turns aside therefrom Truly, We shall exact retribution from the guilty." (Surah As-Sajdah 32:22)

It makes no difference whether such violations are committed as a joke, in seriousness or out of fear, except when done under compulsion (i.e. from threat of loss of life )

We seek refuge in Allaah from such deeds as entail His wrath and severe punishment.
